Hi Moms! I need a gift idea for a 4 year old boy, then also a gift idea that would be good for either a boy or girl (neutral), for ages 4-6. The budget is $5 for each gift, I know, not a lot, so can you please help me get creative?! Thanks!

What can I do next?

I second the big box of crayons. Also, a big pack of playdoh. Who doesn't love playdoh? My kids loved it well past age 4... up until they were pushing 9 and 10. They'd probably still play with it now, if I bought some. And even if they have some, fresh out of the can is still SO cool!

My first thought is a BIG box of crayons, which I have been seeing for around $5, gender neutral and always fun!

My second thought, also gender neutral, are the Kohl's Cares books and stuffed animals @ Kohl's, $5 each.

Books are always a great gift. For the boy, you can also get a couple of matchbox/Hot Wheels cars. Coloring book & crayons/markers or some other kind of art supply is also a good way to go and it's gender neutral.

My son's playgroup does a book exchange every year for the holidays and it's a lot of fun.

a movie (Rio? Christmas movie? Marmaduke? - any movie from the $5 bin)
puzzle
a box of hot chocolate, mug (plastic perhaps), and marshmallows
beach/hooded towel
cookie cutters and package of cookie mix
$5 gift card to toys r us
cup/plate/spoon/fork set
sidewalk chalk
bouncy balls
Slinky Jr. is only $1 at Target "Dollar Spot" right now
books

(My 3.5 yr old would hate a box of crayons. We have tons at home, and all he wants to use is markers. That Kohl's $5 gift idea is great. And my son's play-doh is all dried up, so he could easily use that too).
