Gift for 15Yr Old Boy

I also pulled a "gift for 14 year old boy" from a giving tree. So, yesterday I stopped by the 14-16 old Sunday school class to get some ideas. Unanimously they all said money or gift cards. They were against clothing (too boring and they wanted to pick out the style/size :-) They thought electronics were o.k., but since I don't know what he has, it is hard to buy.
I know that I am not the only one that will be giving a gift to this young man, as according to the tree each child has 3 tags made for them.

So, I am going to get a $50 Visa card, that way he can get what ever he wants and I really liked the idea of putting inside a cool wallet.

Most likely they don't match you to a specific boy. The way our local food bank/gift program works, they put the gifts on a table according to age, divide the families up according to children's age, and let the families pick out gifts from the age-appropriate table.

When I have volunteered there, the teens always are hard to buy for and seem forgotten...their table is sparse. The items that are good for teen girls - curling & straightening irons and makeup kits - for boys, there are usually enjoy small handheld games, razors, wallets, watches, etc.

HOWEVER, from personal experience I have seen a big stuffed animal (big puppy or teddy bear - yes, the teens like them, too) with a gift card tied around the neck. THEY LOVE THEM! These go first, every time! I get them certs to Old Navy, since it can be something they pick out themselves to wear, their size, new, and not too expensive - i.e. $25 covers at least a shirt, if not two. For a boy, perhaps a cert. to the movies or a game store. (Don't make the mistake of thinking a kid whose family needs help doesn't have a game system; a lot of them do. I have no idea where they get them - could be from happier times or a hand-me-down - doesn't matter. What matters is that the kiddo still gets a gift and feels special!)

-MP3 player of any kind. Chances are that he has a friend with accsess to a computer and he can download music. It doesn't have to be an expensive one like an IPOD or a ZUNE, you can pick up a cheap one at any local department store like Walmart/Target/Shopco.
-I know that gift cards werent on your wishlist but I think that a gift card to the movies would be really cool...enough for two people to see a movie and share a popcorn, so he could take a friend.
-A wallet or a watch.
-A basket of that AXE deodrant and body spray. I think thats right around the age where they like looking good for the ladies:)

The reason that they don't give specific info is that the agency matches the gifts with the boy. You're not buying for a specific boy. Any of these suggestions will work. Give whatever is fun for you to choose and give.

I'm glad that you're doing this. When my adoptive daughter was a foster child she received several gifts by way of CSD. Then when she was a single mother receiving state assistance her daughter received gifts. These gifts are very much appreciated.

Maybe a nice wallet with the gift cards.

I have participated in giving trees like this in the past, and I often choose the teens, since they are sometimes forgotten.

I think a scarf set would be appreciated. Maybe a gift certificate to a book store, game store, Target. A teen boy may like a nice watch too.

MP3 player, itunes gift card, prepaid cell phone, cell phone minutes, gift card to the mall, hooded sweatshirt. I'm picking up a prepaid cell phone for my 15 yr old boy (from a giving tree). It's the only thing on his wish list. All the kids this age have or want one.

I LOVE the idea of a gift card around the neck of a big stuffed animal.

That goes double duty, as well. Because not only do teens like stuffed animals (hehehe, I'm grownup, and one of the best things about being a mum is having an excuse for all the "kids stuff")... but he can regift the stuffed animal to a child or girlfriend. So you not only get to give the gift to HIM, but give him the gift of being able to give something nice to someone he cares about.

Just a thought, too... We buy our down pillows from IKEA. $20 and they're as nice or nicer than most of the $100-$150 dollar ones from dept stores. You could also tie a gift card around a down pillow with a big fat ribbon.

Last year we got our teenagers MP3 players, you can get a great one for around $30.00 at Walmart or just about anywhere.

How about a couple of gift certificates for the movie theatre?

The game "Khet". It's kind of like chess with mirrors and lazers. (An actual request from a 15yo boy whose family we gave presents to a couple years ago.) The game is very cool, and I considered buying it for my husband.

it's tough when you don't know what he may already have...I think that a gift card to an electronic store (like best buy) would be a great idea...

Lego sets for older kids (just check the age range on the box, some get quite complex), books that might be inspirational....

I'm having the same problem, and I know the boy! Since you don't know anything about this kid, I'd go with a gift card from a place teenagers like to shop. Someplace that he wouldn't normally get to buy at. Zumiez, Hot Topic, Gap....
Kids that age are really hard to buy for, think clothes and all should be well.

Get him a mens medium flannel or fleeced lined hoodie at Ross. All the boys like those and if you give the gift receipt, he can exchange for a different size. Gloves are always good, too.
