Gift for a Baseball Coach

I'm looking for a gift idea for my 8 year old son's baseball coach. We've played on his team for several years and he has helped my son get onto a higher level team. So, we won't be playing with him anymore. He has been an amazing coach and mentor for my son and we'd like to get him a small gift to show our appreciation for all the energy and time he has spent coaching our son. Any suggestions??

What can I do next?

Gift card to a restaurant, or sporting goods store! And a nice note from you and your son. My ex was a coach and I hate to say it, but all the cute, sentimental things he received (baseball clock, statue, signed ball, etc.) are in a junk box in the basement. He really liked the notes from kids he coached. And a gift card is always appreciated.

www.cafepress.com is a great place to get all sorts of stuff personalized. We've done t-shirts, water bottles, etc. They are super fast with their shipping, too. They have pre-made slogans/sayings, or you can customize your product with a photo and /or your own message. We did a teacher's gift as a tshirt and the kids signed the back of it.

A handwritten note telling him how much he's taught your son - from both your son and you.

You could go with a baseball gift basket. Find a water bottle, baseballs, gum, seeds, Gatorade, ball cap....anything that says "baseball" and wrap it up in a bucket or tub.

Whatever the gift, I would make sure a thank you note is the prominant idea. That's very nice of you. I think coaches often get a whole lot of criticism and not enough thanks for their committment. Good luck.

My daughter plays rec softball in a girls league. She is a little older than your son,but we either chip in as a team, or do individual gift for the coach. Generally we get our coaches gift cards from a local restaurant or from a local sporting goods store. If we do group, each family is asked to contribute $10 if possible, or we do individual for about $25-$40, whatever your budget allows. If possible, ask his wife secretly if you can what his favorite restaurant is, or ask her for names of stores he likes. I think he may want a break from baseball themed gifts, my husband has coached and they get lots of stuff like that, it's cute but can get old.

I like the baseball idea.............if you want something more personal, go to Things Remembered or someplace where you can get something personalized........maybe even get him a cheap/nice trophy for being the best coach........put his name on it, and put your sons name on it as well..........I would go for something he could either carry around with him, like a key chain with something written on it or something he can display in his home.........

I'm sure no matter what, he will appreciate it.......

What about buying a baseball and a case for it and having your son write "Thanks for teaching me baseball, Coach!" and sign his name on the ball with a Sharpie?
