Gift for Tutor

My daughter is in the 2nd grade and is dyslexic. Since February, a bright 7th grade boy has been coming by her school and tutoring her after class for 40 minutes every other week. He is not being paid, and I have never actually gotten to meet him. My daughter is the only one he tutors and he is doing it for his bar mitzvah project.

Next Tuesday will be their last session together. I would like to give him a gift for his time. I'm not sure exactly what to give. I was thinking of a $25 gft card for the movies or for the mall. What do you think? Any other suggestions?

thanks!

You may want to give him something in the form of a Bar Mitzvah gift so it doesn't seem as if you are paying him for tutoring. A traditional gift is money in multiples of $18. You could include that in a Bar Mitzvah card.

You may want to contact his rabbi for ideas. He may have a suggetion that would carry more meaning

I think that is a fabulous idea. What a good kid! $25 won't go very far at the movies-but if he has an ipod you could get him an itunes gift card and he could get a lot of songs.

I agree a gift card would be good. $25 wouldn't go very far at a movie. So I would check into a different type. Maybe Target where he could get a Wii game or something.

$25 is a reasonable gift card amount but I also agree with the mom about writing a glowing letter of recommendation for him. That will really help him out in life.

I like the two suggestions you have already gotten. If you go the gift card route, also consider an iTunes gift card. He sounds like a nice young man! Maybe you can keep him around for next year too! ;)
