Hello!

My Godson is turning 2 next week and I need some great ideas for a gift. He loves the push toys (but has them) and to draw. He is not into anything in particular, but he is an active boy. I'd rather get some moms' ideas than buy something he may not like. I appreciate your feedback.

I have two nephews, one will be 3 in August. For Christmas, we got them this: http://www.target.com/Matching-Colors-and-Textures/dp/B00...

It has been a hit ever since. Its a great tool for learned and it has grown with him. At first, he just tried to match the puzzle pieces together. He liked to line them up and make it into train tracks and drive his train over them after he finished them all (There are a lot in the box). It has also helped him with his speech in saying the names of the objects.

Then once he got really good at matching them, I took out 6 cards, basically 3 matches, and turned them over and played the memory game with him. He loves playing this too, and again, we have to get thru the entire pile before he will put them down. We tried 8 cards, but that got a little too tricky for him.

Anyways, it was a wonderful gift in my opinion, and it gets used a lot! I watch them for 30 hours a week, so I know first hand. Good Luck!

My son loves his play dough set that comes in a carry bag. Comes with a plastic scissor (safe not sharp, roller, spagetti press, etc.). Its great for travel. I watch him when he plays with it as I do with crayons, just in case he tried to eat it. Got mine in Walmart.

Go into Target or Walmart in the coloring section - they have by Crayola - Color wonder (I think it's called) you get paper, markers, crayons or paint set.. but the best part is the crayons, markers or paint only work on that paper. The kids can draw on the walls, carpet... and nothing comes out.. it only comes out on the paper.. so it's awesome (because most kids love to try and draw where they are not suppose to...) I just bought this pack for my niece for her 3rd birthday. I also bought a bubble gun (fill the gun with bubbles ) and press.. it shoots out tons of tiny bubbles and I bought a big ball. Kids love balls. Also for boys - how about a big truck - like a bulldozer or cememt truck or a big shop rite type truck. Kids are fun.. and they love whatever we buy. I bought my neice a bathing suit - one size bigger than she is for the summer. Also mom's love to get pj's for kids or a small jacket or sweather. have fun...

We've bought some expensive toys for our 2 yr old son but more than anything he loves the simple things...books, bubbles, play dough, coloring, painting, etc... He also likes puzzles (Melissa and Doug have some good ones). For his 2nd birthday, he liked playing with the tissue/wrapping paper more the gift.

Hi D.,

My son turned two in January and his aunt and uncle gave him the Playhut Magic Playground for his birthday, which he LOVES. It has three different tents for him to crawl into, as well as two separate tunnels to attach between the tents. It's super easy to put together and take apart (very important because his main play area is also our family/living room), and it keeps him entertained for hours. One big plus is it folds up easily into a little storage bag, which we keep in a hall closet for when he wants to play with it. I'm pretty sure you can find the Playhut on Amazon.

My son also adores Thomas the Train, which makes a very nice gift. There are several starter sets that come with track and a Thomas engine.

Have fun shopping!

How about a gift card to Target and a couple of great books? Kids get tons of toys for holidays, but they outgrow clothing and shoes quickly. At two, he isn't going to really understand "who-gave-what", but your friends will appreciate being able to go out and buy him something that he needs.

My son is turning one at the end of the month, which is hard to believe. My mother called about a month ago and offered to organize a family gift card to Toys R Us, knowing that we would like to purchase some outdoor toys for the summer. She wrote a cute poem and sent it out- that way we avoid having to return things he isn't interested in, that don't fit, or that we don't want him to have and the family loves the idea of buying him a "big gift". You may want to offer something similar for your godson.

You could always call and ask what he needs too.
