Good Morning,
My mom just called and said she has run out of Easter basket ideas. There are eight grandkids (11, 9, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, & 3 #). The 4 & 5 year olds are girls and all the rest are boys. We don't like to give a lot of candy but if anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate the help!
Thanks!
My mom fills my children's easter baskets with a few summer outfits. Last year they each got a lifejacket, bathing suit, and robe. I prefer items I can use instead of candy.
Bubbles, sidewalk chalk, markers/crayons/artsupplies, sugar free gum, books, flashlights, yo-yo, playdoh. One year the Easterbunny brought my kids umbrellas because they needed them. The Easterbunny likes to restock art supplies at our house and give outside toys since the weather is just getting nice!!!
We make fruit and nut baskets for our 5 kids. They do get a chocolate easter bunny, and a small amount of candy but we raid the dollar store and buy a stuffed animal, a book, some pencils and paper, maybe a stapler (kids love staples). All sorts of stationary stuff. My kids love it.
for the older kids, get them mini versions of games like scrabble or something they can play with for a long time. For the little ones, small activity coloring books. Stamps sets, real stamps so the kids can write letters, thank you stationery, pens, pencils, coloring utensils, etc. She could do a summer theme, pool toys, beach towel, sunglasses, passes to a waterpark. Not sure how big her baskets get. Do the little ones think it is from the easter bunny or grandma?
Socks, shoes, any clothing item that can fit into a basket.
If they have a sandbox, maybe new toys for that.
Other outside toys -frisbee, balls, etc.
Pretend makeup for the girls. Toy cars or other items they are interested in (Spiderman, Batman). I know Dollar General carries a lot of coloring books in themes.
Reading books or games are always a good option!
Crafts (from Michaels) - maybe foam stickers, paints, etc.
Books are great, bubbles, stickers, coloring books, crayons, toy cars (for the boys), barbies (toys r us just had a new one come out for $3..I have a daughter so we are big into barbies right now!). We also would put a swimsuit into her basket for the aproaching summertime. Stuffed animals are great. Also Target has the great $1 bins and you can find all sorts of neat little gift basket-y items. Thats where I have the best of luck!
Every year we put a new bathing suit in our kids baskets, and sometimes new flip flops too.
we always put books in our baskets. and my sons loved magic tricks. sports stuff is also good. a new baseball or hockey puck. sidewalk chalk (shaped like easter eggs lol) new art stuff like markers and crayons. for the girls new barretts and hair stuff. one year my daughter wanted some fancy underwear (she was about 7) and wanted some like the other girls in her gym class. so she got a pair of polka dot undwear lol.
how about movies, gift certificates, computer games, arts&crafts, legos for the older kids. clothes, etc.
Outside stuff for sure! We go to the dollar store and get a bunch of stuff for my kids. Last year the oldest got a doctor kit, fairy wings, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, fruit snacks and a couple of pieces of candy. My stepmom always gets the kids a shirt and a chocolate Easter bunny. I would stay away from the gum that the pp mentioned. I know my 3 year old can't chew gum. She always swallows it.
