I know a few 3 year olds who will be becoming big brothers or big sisters soon. What are some gift ideas for them?

What can I do next?

my dd was 4 when little sister was born. I went to Chelseas tea room and got her a big sister t-shirt, which she wore proudly to the hospital to meet her baby sister. And I got her a very pretty sterling silver bracelet that says "big Sis" in block letters. It has had to be restrung many times but she still wears it today and she is almost 8. I gave her both gifts at the baby shower. She loved getting a gift that day. Very thoughtful of you. Good luck!

How thoughtful of you! One thing my daughter received from a friend of ours when our son was born was a Big Sister Photo Album by baby Gund. It is adorable and soft with a handle like a purse/suitcase. We filled it with photos of her and her brother and she loves to carry it around. It comes in Big Sister and Big Brother. You can find them on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Baby-GUND-Photo-Album-Brother/dp/B0....

Here is an idea for a little girl...
We got my daughter a necklace from James Avery that says "Big Sister" inside a heart. If it's for a young one, you could put the charm on a pink leather rope or ribbon to avoid the delicate chain being snapped.

We got our son a "big brother" gift. He was a month shy of three when we had our daughter in October. We bought him a toddler camera. Originally, we planned to give it to him at the hospital, but since I was induced, we decided to give it to him the night before. We told him it was his job to help get extra pictures of his new baby sister. We made a big deal out of the fact that it was a big brother gift. Our theory was that while everyone oohed and aahhhed over the baby, he would be distracted by the camera and not get terribly jealous...and we knew he would get bored at the hospital. I think he took pictures of everything but his sister! (the floor, trash cans, my IVs, etc.), but it worked perfectly, he had something to do while he was at the hospital.

His Aunt filled a cardboard suitcase with things from the dollar store: crayons, figures, cars, coloring books, story books, etc. It was meant to keep him busy if he got stuck in the waiting room...it worked like a charm

My mother sent him some big brother shirts. She bought them at cafepress.com She thought they were all so cute, she refused to get just one.

We always did books or cars so they could play quietly in the hospital if they were there but my cousin gave her son a disposable camera and he loved it they got them developed and put them in a book so he could take it to school.

When I give a baby gift, I always give the big brothers/sisters a Morgan Silver dollar or some nice coin in a little display case. Depending on how close I am to the family, I might give a proof set of their birth year or some type of collector coin item.

We purchase in quantity from a numismatic company but you can get them at Lone Star Mint in Plano as well. I am sure there are other stores in the DFW area.

Get them "I'm the Big Sister or Brother" shirts... My cousin just had her second and her first walked around with so much pride in her "I'm the Big Sister" shirt. I think it's a great idea...
