Hello all! I asked this question a few months ago, but it was about a different letter of the alphabet. You guys did a great job coming up with a list for me, so I'm asking the question again, but with a new letter. This christmas we are exchanging gifts that begin with the first letter of the name of the person we are giving it to. I have a woman in her mid-30's who is a stay at home mom. I thought that the letter "A" was going to be easy, but now I am at a loss. It's tougher than I thought! Help me get my christmas shopping started! Thanks!
I know this has already (sort of) been suggested and is a little nerdy, but I have a Christmas apron that I love. When I entertain for the holidays or make cookies with my family, I love to wear it and it really puts me in the holiday mood. I probably would never have bought it for myself (I got mine as a gift too), but I do like to have it around. Mine is just mostly red with a little holly on the front. It's fun and festive.

What about Acorn brand shoes / socks? I've seen them in lots of stores - here's their website:
My first thought was an apron with her child(rens) name(s) on it. I like the afgan idea maybe with her name on to make it personalized.

I don't know if this is close to her, but an Azana spa certificate is a nice pampering gift. You could always put in in a little basket of "A" goodies that some of the other ladies recommended. (Alcohol/wine, aspirin (not to be taken together) :), angel, and the gift card to Azana.)
Hope this helps, it sounds like such a fun idea!

If she is a stay at home mom you can get her Asprin. No, for a real thoughtful gift you could get her one of those I think they are called Willow Angels (made of wood). I have seen them at Boston Store, Hallmark. I have one they are very precious. Good luck on your search.

If you want to do something homemade you could fo apple butter, apple cake, or apple crisp.....you could do an "Apple ____ in a Jar mix" where you put all the dry ingredients in a jar and give the recipe to make the food with it! Here are some recipes for those:
I have two ideas for you since I wasn't sure about the price range.
1. Apple Berry Lipstick ($13) from Mary Kay. It's the third most popular Mary Kay shade and according to makeup artists, it's the most suitable shade of our entire line for all skin tones. And through a new charitable initiative called Beauty That Counts, Mary Kay will donate 100% of the profits (until the end of Dec) to a charitable organization that support women and children. So the person you give it too will enjoy the lipstick and you will feel good about the profits going out to help those women and children in need.
2. Affection Eau de Parfum ($50) - by Mary Kay - A modern oriental chypre that awakens the senses with sparkling pink peppercorn. At its heart is the surprising sweetness of Chinese osmanthus and white peony. Finally, the warmth of amber woods delivers a lasting impression. It’s pure luxury captured in a bottle.
Hope these suggestions help, if you are interested in purchasing any of the above items, please see my website at www.marykay.com/pkrivoshein and I'd be more than happy to help you with your Christmas shopping list and keep you out of the busy Malls.

The first thing that comes to my mind is an album (photo album). I suppose you could even look for a record album if she has a turntable and likes music. You could have a lot of fun picking out old records at a used music store or online!

If you are able to knit or crochet you could make an afghan. I am sure she would appreciate the time you spent on it and in the winter there is nothing better then curling up with an afghan:) I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season!!
Sorry - I just noticed this was mentioned before. Good luck.

Not sure how you/she will feel about it...alcohol. A nice bottle of wine or something like that is a nice gift in most circumstances. Of course if you know she doesn't drink or you are opposed to drinking...the afghan is a nice idea.

What about an afghan? :-) I am a stay at home mom and love to snuggle up at night and watch my favorite shows after my son goes to bed. Might be hard to find, but it's an A! :-)
Good Luck!

an Afghan, you can get beautiful handmade ones at craft fairs.
Or a small kitchen "Appliance", something fun like a popcorn popper, a shake maker, a margarita maker, or a smoothie or ice cream maker. And then you could buy all the ingredients that go along with it like a movie-style popcorn bowl filled with popcorn seeds and cheese/butter spices. Or of course if you get a margarita maker you could buy different flavors of margarita mix and tequila!
Those could be the "Accessories" to the "Appliance"!

What a great idea! I wish my family could be that creative.
The only thoing I could come up with off the top of my head was an angel or an album. If you know any of her hobbies like scrapbooking you could nd a few things with the letter A or even movies. You could be a bit ornrey and do A piece of candy A coffee mug. It is in singular form haha!!!
Best of luck

A small bit of amber - perhaps with a copy of the movie or book Jurasic Park (in that story the dna for the dinos comes from bits of the creatures preserved in amber)
Apple - scented candles or lotion
Apron - maybe with apples on it and apple-wood chips used in a smoker to flavor meat
Amethyst - maybe a glass bead bracelent in with amethyst and/or amber colored glass
Amazon gift certificates (because they sell just about everything!)
Artwork
Angels - maybe an "angel on your shoulder" pin
Antique - especially if there's anything she collects like thimbles or baby spoons or button
