Hi ladies I'm 23 years old and have a big passion for educating children. I wanted to start my own in home daycare but, the odds were against me. I couldn;t get the supples nor the clients I needed. I was thinking about going back to school to be a teacher. But I was wondering was it to late for me to go back to school?

What can I do next?

It is NEVER too late to go back to school.

I am 31 years old, will be 32 in July, with three kids, single and working full time. I am also enrolled full time at college.

Better to be late then sorry...

T.,
I just turned 39 and have decided to go back to school to finish what I started. If you feel uncomfortable going into a classroom or maybe you don't have the time because of your kids, you can always try online courses. There's a great university that will allow you to get your degree and certification in as little as 2 1/2 yrs. Check out the website and if interested call one of their advisors. The university is Ashford University. You must be committed because there is no break...each course is 5 weeks each..one after the other. Good Luck -L.

My first time setting foot in a college was at 25, with two children and my husband had just left me. As the mother of 4 children, whom just graduated with my Master's last week, my answer would be, "Of course not." There are many governmental resources to help you with child care and tuition assistance. Fortunately, many of the classes at the junior college and universities are available online. Good luck.

Girl, it's NEVER too late to go back to school. I went to TWU and there were 80 yr old women there getting degrees. FOR REAL!!! If you have the passion and the motivation you can do it. Good luck!

I am going to college to be a teacher and it is never too late. it might be more difficult with 2 kids under the age of five. If you are self disciplined you can do it. Most moms I know put their kids in mothers day out and go to school 2 days a week.

It is NEVER too late to go to school. Statistics show and increase recently in non-traditional students (students over age 22). Some colleges even cater to the parent/student population. I was a single mom at Texas A&M in Commerce and graduated when I was 23. My mother is STILL going to school there and got a BA at 45. If you're just starting out with college classes, I recommend getting your basics done at a community college first and transferring those to a university. Texas A&M in Commerce is known as a teaching school. I actually got my BA in English from them 'cause I planned to be an English teacher. There's plenty of financial aid and family housing units on campus too and there is a campus daycare. The have a large population of non-traditional students so good luck in pursuing your endeavor!
