I wanted to know if anyone had advise on what I could do to take care of this balding issue I have. I started loosing my hair about 6 years ago. It is hereditary in my family and I am trying really hard to avoid it. I stopped perming my hair and have been natural for 6 years. I also, do not braid or pull my hair. So far, It doesn't seem to be progressing much, but it has some over the years. My derm told me to try Rogaine, but I had a terrible allergic reaction to it. Then I tried Regro, and the same thing seem to happen, as it did with the Rogaine. I'm guessing it's the Monoxil, as that is the common main ingredient. I'm stuck now and don't know what to do. My derm was not so helpful, as she said that the only other thing I could try is shots in the head. Oh my gosh!!! I can't even imagine doing that. If anyone has any suggestions, I will be happen to take them.

I'm anxious to see any responses. I have the same exact issue :( It's been since I was 17, I thought it was from perming, coloring, etc...But my sister has never permed, dyed,etc...her hair and she also has the thinning problem.
I was told that I have "male pattern hair loss"...Thanks dad :) -he's bald!
I've never tried any solution to my thinning hair, I only take vitamins regularly and I try to eat healthy in hopes of it helping BUT it hasn't. I have my hair cut shorter these days which avoids weighing my hair down, causing it to look even thinner. Anyway, maybe you'll get some responses. I'm looking forward to them as well.

SEE A MEDICAL NUTRITIONIST!! You keep applying stuff whereas you hair is a part of your growth and nutrition. Also what was your mothers hair like? I know they sell supplements specific to hair loss. See PuritansPride,com Perhaps its genetic.

I can't tell you anything about your hair lose condition, however, I can tell you worry a fulltime job and two chidren can add stress to an already stressful situation. My advice to you is to find ways to relax. Day to day living can cause a person without a hereditary history to lose their hair. Sister just find ways to enjoy where you are in life it will make what ever you are going through that much easier and less painful. I've got the same problem and I recently read that I need to be drinking about 8 oz of water for every pound I'm carrying, plus check out the net about the pH balanced diet or alkaline food plan.
