Going Rate for Babysitters? - Lockport,NY

I'm wondering what everyone pays their babysitters. We have a ton of family in the area so we are very lucky to not have to pay a babysitter that often, but when we do need a teenager, I'm never sure what to pay her. (We have 1, 21 month old boy)

What can I do next?

We pay 10 an hour, but that's for a college aged ECE student who also works in the pre-school where DS went to after care last year.

I'd pay less for a teenager.

The going rate in my area is not less than $10/hr. My 17 yr old averages $12-$15/hour.

2 weeks ago she sat for 2 families, total of 6 kids in 1 night for 8 hours and she got $160.

Our high school-age babysitters get $8 to $10 dollars per hour, and our college-age sitters get $12-$14 dollars per hour. We try to use our h.s. sitters as much as possible! (We have 1 daughter who just turned 5.)

In our area, babysitters range between $15 and $22 per hour. This is for a sitter who is in her mid-20s with lots of babysitting experience.

$8-10 per hour, more if she's good or if there are multiple children or the child is still in diapers

I think $12-$15/hour is fair for a sitter, and reasonable considering you don't need one very often.

We pay our college-aged sitter $10 per hour and always "round up"- if we're gone for 3.5 hours, we pay her $40. We also know her favorite foods and make sure that we have snacks and dinner options stocked when she comes.

I paid all my sitters $10-$12 per hour for two little boys ages ( 2 and 5). The two year old is still in diapers. I pay $10 for those with less experience and $12 for those with more experience babysitting and nannying.

I think it really depends on where you live and how many days and hours you need someone. My sister lives in San Diego and she just went on an interview for a babysitter position (she is still in college). They are offering her $14 an hour to watch 2 kids. She has no experience with kids at all. none. Never even watched my kids because she was too young at the time (she is 10 years younger than me). So, it really all just depends. I used to nanny and I was paid $150 a week for 1 little boy at my home 4 hours a day. Maybe call around or check out local adds and see what the going rate is for your area? Good luck!

Around here, kids make 10-15, and adults make 20-25
