T.K.
I would think around $200-$300.
My hubby and I are going away for 2 days, we always paid a babysitter hourly. But now she is going to be here for 2 full days, watching 3 kids, under 3.5. We went food shopping, and there's no day activities planned, so she really doesn't have to spend any extra money buying things.
Her hourly rate is $12, and this is her full time job. She's 26, and is a student.
Any idea how much we should give her for the weekend?
Thanks!

We always agreed upon a price up front. Not hourly but a daily price so to speak. If the kids got up at night that was extra. Good luck!!
Hi, in our area, the price you're paying for hourly childcare is pretty normal. Some places higher for 3 kids. I would think for staying the whole weekend, it would have to be $350 - $400. But you could talk to her I'm sure. If she'll be there for 48 hours, and you pay her $12 an hour that would end up being almost $600 which is excessive.
I would charge 225 for the 3 and they would stay in my house. If she is going to you, I'd offer her 300-350.
I have only done overnights - not a whole weekend (for that she stays with family who are free!!!!!!). I typically pay $10/hour for regular babysitting and when I had a girl who did a couple overnights I would take my daughter (who was 8 at the time) there around 7pm and pick her up around 11am the next morning and I paid her $85. IN ADDITION to that I bought them both pizza and gave her $20 to go to b'fast the next morning (there was a panera bread down the street so they walked there).
3 kids under 3.5 is a LOT of work (as you know!!!!!). I would definitely ask her what she is expecting. Technically - your babysitter has to be "on" 24 hours a day - even when sleeping - so I disagree with the whole 'they aren't working the entire time" train of thought. She has to be alert enough to handle a crisis (or tears or vomit) if they occur.
Good Luck!
YEESH! Are you sure the trip is worth it?? LOL
I would figure the total amount of time the kids are awake. 8-12 hours/day and pay her the regular rate (based on what you know roughly about their routines). Then I would cut her rate back to 7.50 (federal minimum wage) at night.
This is a tough question. Why don't you ask her what she wants? LOL
