Going to Water Park When 9 Weeks pregnant...is It Ok?

Next week my cousin and family are coming over, so we thought of taking them to a local water park. But since I am 9 weeks pregnant now, I am in doubt about my going with them. Can I join my family for that, if I just enjoy the lazy river or some relaxing water entertainment, I won't dare go to any of those crazy rides...

What can I do next?

I know (unfortunately from experience) some of those high velocity slides can give you an enema, so I wouldn't want to risk those. Other than those and hot tubs you should be fine.

YES!!!! Just no waterslides or jarring raft rides or anything like that. I swam my entire pregnancies and it was a great way to stay fit and healthy. There is nothing wrong with you going to that water park and having a grand ole' time hanging out with family and keeping cool in the water. NOTHING!! Babies are so well-protected inside the uterus that it is ridiculous. I am not advocating that you become a stunt woman tomorrow or go bungee jumping but basically, don't get into that state of mind that you are a "fragile" person now. Yes, you are pregnant and certain caution is expected. Just don't make yourself into a delicate little flower that can't even enjoy a nice jaunt down the Lazy River Raft Ride....because I have done it numerous times and you can too! Oh, and the first time I did this, I was pregnant with TWINS. So much for the "fragile" syndrome on that note.

If you think you cannot go to a water park while pregnant you need to see your doctor. S/he will explain to you exactly what you can and cannot do. Healthy women with normal pregnancies can do almost anything up through the last trimester.

of course you can go to the water park!! Yes! You can ride the rides!! You're not 9 MONTHS along.

At 9 weeks the baby is about 1" long - maybe 1.5" long...

The ONLY thing I would not do? Hot tubs or saunas. Other than that? Go have a great time!

Why on earth couldn't you go? Talk to your doctor if you really need reassurance.

Of course it's ok.

There are entire water exercise and aerobics designed specifically for pregnant women. Heck, swimming is one of the best ways to exercise when you are pregnant.

Have fun. :)

I know some people think they need to wrap themselves in bubble paper and sit still for 40 weeks, but the fact is that your body is very well designed to protect your pregnancy. The list of thing you really should not do is relatively short. With regard to the water park, avoid hot tubs, as others have mentioned, but otherwise have a great time; riding a waterslide is fine.

I am in Texas and lived at the waterpark during both of my pregnancies because of the Texas heat. Like you mentioned, stay off of the wild slides, but enjoy the lazy river and wave pool. If you have doubts, call your doctor.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Oh yeah. Water slides should be okay too. Roller coasters and such aren't because of the body being jetted so much. Water slides are more mild and don't her you around much

Go and have fun. Just no waterslides or rides of any kind. Certainly enjoy the lazy river and wave pool and any other pool-type activities.

Call your doctor and ask. Personally I wouldn't and I am by no means a germophobe. Any other time I say fine. Why risk picking up some weird bacteria.
