Good Breat Pumps

I used the Medela pump in style. It worked well and is the pump that is recommended by the hospital I work for. It is also the pump that many of my friends who are also in the medical profession use. I had to pump for about 3 months until my son got the hang of breast feeding. Hope this helps.

I have been using the Medela electric breast pump and it works great! I have been back to work for 2 weeks now and I have to pump at least 5 times a day. The Medela breast pump is very quick, only about 3-4 minutes per breast. They are more expensive but it is well worth it.

Funny I seem to be jealous of pregnant woman... I loved being pregnant and after my daughter I am sad to say I am not having anymore... However, I am as lucky as can be I have a son who just turned 4 this week and my daughter is almost 16 months...

I used the Medela Pump in Style and loved it.... I went back to work after 3 months and I used it at work for months.... Hope this helps...

A little about me:

36 year old mother of 2 4 year old son and 16 month old daughter, I work full time and have a wonderful husband of 10 years...

If you want a good one, rent the pump in the hospital is like $ 40.00 per month they are the best. Actaully if you want buy it, Medela is the best brand and they are expensive like $400 to $600, it's more conveniant rent it and the hospital use Medela too, but the profesional. I had to come back to work full time when my baby was 6 weeks old and I breast feed her until she was 5 months old... only with the pump.
Never think in the cheap ones like First Year, Evenflo, etc. they don't work like they should and you will waste your money. Good luck!

A working mom should use something like the Medela professional. Fast, efficient, and really gets the job done. It's expensive, but compared to the hand pumps and others, it's worth every penny.

I started working when my son was 3 months old and through the pumping, he was able to drink breast milk for 2 years (once he started eating solids, we'd mix it with the cereal). I continued to nurse him at night.

Good luck. Breastfeeding is wonderful but if you are a working mom, an electric pump is the only way to go.

I used a Medela Pump In Style and it worked very well. My son never got the hang of breast feeding, so I pumped exclusively for 6 months and saved up enough milk to feed him till he was 9 months. You will get sore, but most pumps have low/medium/high settings and that helps. I am a teacher and pumped in my classroom closet twice or three times a day. I am expecting again at the end of June and hopefully this time breast feeding will work out for us, but if not - pumping full time will do the trick again.

this one is GREAT and you can 'share' it/pass it on/sell it when you're done bcse it's sanitary somehow...anyway I liked this pump...

Hey there, Congrats on the second baby!! I currently pump an use the Medela pump in style advanced. Its the one in the backpack and I think its great. I also bought the converters so that I can pump into the avent bottles!! Look in the babies r us paper and I got my coupon out of there. It saved me 10%. Anyways I have a nine month old and I pump in the morning at home then twice at work. Good luck with finding one you like!!

I have a 7 month old baby that I breast feed exclusively. I hope that you are able to breast feed this time because it creates an amazing bond. I use the Medela electric double pump sold at Babies R Us. This one is awesome and works great. Also, remember that the more demand the more supply of milk. So the more you nurse and pump the more milk your breasts will create. One important thing is to drink a lot of water. If you can cut out sodas and coffee until your supply is well established. The first 3-4 days you will not have milk, only colustrum (a thick yellow fluid). Make sure you don't get scared and give the baby formula. Colustrum is very rich in nutrients important for the baby. Your milk will come in a few days and when it does you will definitely know!

Let me know if you need any other advice. I am a first time mom and I can say that breast feeding is a hard at first but after a few weeks you will be fine. Definitely ask for a lactation consultant when you give birth. Good Luck! God bless you and your baby!

I actually have a brand new Medela Original (in the unopened original box) that I am going to sell. My daughter is 5 months old and at the time of my shower i was intending to return to work and pump...however i have decided not to go back to work, so i don't need the pump.
This particular pump retails at Target and Babies R Us for $249.99 I am willing to sell mine for $200.00 cash.

I used the Medela Breast Pump, but I would like to tell you that there's really no breast pump good enough then your baby drinking directly from you. Medela is a very good brand. It's kind of expensive but is the one that hospitals recommend. If you do need to pump, I would suggest to do it as often as you can and place your baby on the breast at least twice a day to stimulate the milk production. Moms usually get discouraged when the pump because they think they are drying out, but the truth is that there will be times when your body needs a 24 hour time stretch to make the quantity the baby demands. Just don't give up!!! Breast feeding is the best. It not only the best thing you could do for your baby, but for yourself as well. And there are no words for the bond that you and your baby will cherish together. No one could take away that special time with him/her. Hope you have a good experience. God Bless you and your baby.

Congratulations on your soon to be second baby. As for the pumping, my favorite pump was the Medela Harmony Single Manual pump. With my first baby, I used the Medela In Style one and the plastic cups that go around your nipple were too hard for me, the Medela Harmony has a silicone cup that comfortably pumps your breasts. I also like the fact that I was able to control the speed with my own hand as opposed to the Medela In Style that is electrical. So, I rave about the Medela Harmony Breast Pump.

Another tip about pumping and nursing. If you want for the breastfeeding to succeed, do not give your baby a bottle for the first six weeks, just strictly breastfeeding. I know that the latch on stage can be challenging, you have to work at it and make sure that you have the proper support and guidance for it to work. Every baby knows how to nurse, they just have to be guided in the right way. You may want to visit La Leche League's website to find a support group near you and start going to them now. Also, once I went to work with my first baby, I would make sure that I had a set pumping schedule (no matter what was happening at work, my baby came first) and I also brought with me a photo of my baby so that I could see her little face while I pumped because this ensured that my milk would flow out nicely without me feeling tense or worried. Drink plenty of fluids at work and try to pump at least every 3 hours to ensure that your production does not go down. Lastly, no matter what pump you get, there is no greater pump than a baby extracting the milk but the pump is a wonderful alternative whenever you are away from your baby.

I have 4 girls and 4 times I have used the Medela In Style breast pump when going back to work full time, it's great. I usually breast feed until my babies are 6-7 months (by choice, my milk supply would've continued.) It's a little expensive but excellent and you can get it at Babies R Us now. Mine is already 8 years old and I'm still using it with my 4 month old...

Hi E.. You sound like me. I am also a full time working mother married with two children who does everything at home even when I was pregnant with my little girl who is turning one next month. To answer your question about the best breast pump. I would first tell you the good news. Being that you tried the nursing thing with your first child and you didn't have enough milk. Well that is normal, most mothers I speak to have had the same experience. Rest assured when baby #2 comes you will have 10X more milk then you did with your first child. There is a scientific explanation that you can speak to your doctor about. The best breast pumps I would have to say is the electric pumps (Medela is very popular)it makes the process easier. And for the road, make sure you continue to take your prenatals it will help you alot as you breastfeed since you will be transferring so much of your natural nutrients and vitamins to your baby. I got a pump in style from ebay for under $100. At one time target had all the pieces to go with them so the whole thing was new except for the motor.

Also, plug into La Leche League meetings while you're pregnant. I hit a couple with my first pregnancy and I wouldn't have made it if I hadn't. I was able to understand more and I called the leaders a couple of times and they were so kind. I kept nursing I think so I could keep going to the meetings to be in a positive, nurturing environment. I was able to meet my goal and nurse for a year and worked full time without needing to supplement.

I used the AMEDA Purley Yours Pump. My Baby Bargains book recommended both the Ameda and the Medela equally..... however, there is quite a price difference!! AMEDA was easy to maintain and less cleaning than the Medela. I breast fed for 6 months but used the pump when I went back to work for an additional 3 months. It is hard to do it all!! But I loved this pump. I bought it online!!

I had exactly the same story as Angie - my son never figured it out so I pumped exclusively for 9 very long months. Used the Medela Pump in Style, recommended by the lactation consultant at Memorial West.

I would recommend that you have a pump on hand before heading to the hospital but also contact a lactation consultant BEFORE going to the hospital to have on call. My son was born the Tuesday before Passover and Easter so we had a very hard time finding a lactation consultant when we got home on Friday before Easter (and during passover).

I had the same problem as you with both my children. I purchased the Medela pump before I consulted with a lactation consultant who told me that even though it's a good quality pump, it isn't powerful enough to empty the breast completly to stimulate milk supply.

To stimulate supply, rent a hospital grade pump and then once you have good supply, use a regular store bought pump to use at work.

I have the Medela electric double breast pump and it seems to work great! I also use the manual hand pump alot because it seems to be much quicker. I know alot of people go for the electric ones...but I personally prefer the manual hand pump. I can get up and walk around and it is quiet!
