My nutritionist said that to lose at a good pace I should eat between 12-1500 calories a day, but never fall below 1200. (this is for woman, mens would be higher). If you fall below 1200 you will stop losing weight when your body goes into starvation mood. Also, he said to consider no food off limits, just practice control and make the best choices most of the time. What makes it easy for me is cooking with a lot of veggies, they fill up your plate and tummy while being low cal, and replacing my regular bread with multi grain bread thins (100 per "bun").
