We bought a sippy cup, but it is so "spill proof" that it is practically also drink-proof. Can anyone recommend a good sippy cup to us? Thanks.

What can I do next?

Hi,
After buying the kind you are talking about, and dealing with the gross piece that you have to take out and clean, I bought those first years plastic sippy cups. They are very inexpensive, disposable, and don't get all the "crud".
They will spill a little if they are dropped are thrown, but not a tremendous amount.
Good Luck!

When my daughter was first learning to drink from a sippy cup, I took the no-spill valve out of the cup. Once she got the hang of it, we put the valve back in and she understood what to do. Good luck!

Hi L.,

We had the same problem, and I we like the Avent sippy cups. The lids are a softer material and require less suction to get liquids through.

Good luck!

One that my friend's doctor recommended was the Nuby sippy cup. The lid has no valve, and it is silicone similar to the bottles. My 9 month old took to it very well after struggling a little with other cups. He now uses all different cups. They are a little difficult to find- we found ours at Walmart. Definitely a great first sippy cup.

We used Gerber. I like the valve b/c it is easy to put in and easy to clean. The smaller cups with handles we good at first but as she grew we switched to a gerber with a more narrow bottom so the cup would fit in her cup holder on her car seat.

I LOVE Nuby!! They are soft like a bottle nipple and do not have messy valves to clean. My daughter has been using this type of cup since she was 7 months old and loves it. They are also inexpensive...around $1.50 each at Walmart.
