Hello. I am putting together a no kids, mommies only dinner night with some ladies from church. I am looking for any recommendations on restaurants in the St Paul area. I would prefer not to go downtown and a place that we could have conversation without loud music or a crazy atmosphere. We have ladies coming from the Cottage Grove and Blaine areas and I thought St Paul would be a good in between point. If anyone has any suggestions - that would be very helpful!

This is a place called "The Strip Club" it is a little expensive but great service and great quality. Located right off hwy 94 on the east side of st paul. Very quiet and small and just a very nice treat. I just went there with my husband for our 3rd anniversary and we got to sit upstairs it was just great. Lots of puns on the menu hense the name of the restaurant.

Wow! There are lots of great places. One easy to find place is a small Italian restaurant on Snelling Avenue near St. Claire. (South of 94 about 2 miles. It is called Carmelo's. (Make a reservation, since it is small.) Quiet. But sometimes the service is not that great.

Another good spot is Everest (Tibetan and Nepalese food) on Grand Ave near Hamline. (Across from Kowlaski's.) Anyone coming from the south can take 35 E and exit on Ayd Mill Road to Grand and go west (left).

There are lots of great spots on Grand Avenue and Selby Avenue (Happy Gnome, WA Frost's etc.), easy to get to and not in the downtown area where you might have to pay to park - especially if there is an event downtown. Some of those places are spendy and packed. Everest and Carmelo's are small and not usually super crowded.

Good luck!

The wine bar at Heartland is great. If you're looking for something really casual, Cheeky Monkey is a good option. And if it's a nice evening, the patios at Salut, W.A. Frost, and Moscow on the Hill are all beautiful. All of the above places are in Crocus Hill except Heartland, which is in the Mac-Groveland area.

I love Carmelo's as suggested earlier but if they're busy, it's loud, and hearing conversations can be difficult especially if your group is larger.

I really like The Lexington, on Lexington and Grand. It's old school class. The service is great, and you may even be able to get a private room for your group. There won't be any rush for you to leave, either.
