Anyone have a good beach shade that fits your family? Is lightweight and easy to set up?

I've been looking at them for a long time but never bought one because I wanted something for our family, not just for putting a baby down to nap.

Would love your reviews! My mind is turning to mush researching these online!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I bought a "cabana tent" online. It take three poles, but got great reviews. It was inexpensive, easy to set up and the kids love it. I am excited to have a portable "shade" and a little bit of privacy next time we go to the beach - esp since I'm still nursing a baby!

Thank all!

Well, I don't have specific reviews for you, but maybe this will help. I am assuming you are just looking for a little shade from the sun and not planning on camping on or near the beach :). My parents have this one (or something VERY close to it) http://www.amazon.com/ABO-Gear-10155-Portable-Shelter/dp/... . They bought it for me when our son was six months old. They wanted to give me a place to nurse him in private. Four years later we still us it. It's a little hot, so it's mostly used for changing and a few kids have napped in it on the beach. Ours is supposed to fit six people, but it would be VERY uncomfortable with that many - three is more like it. If you just want a little shelter from the sun, we LOVE the pop up canopy (very similar to this one http://www.amazon.com/E-Z-UP-D2S0010BL-Blue-Dome/dp/B0000... ) , It's easy to put up. And we can all fit under it...there are usually more than 8 people on our beach excursions. And the kids can play and dig in the sand without being out in the sun.

We have a Quest 12x12 and I love it. We have had other brands but this one is the simplest to put up.

We just got back from the beach on Saturday and I wanted to buy a tent too. We booked our trip only 4 days before we left so I didn't have time to shop around for one and we ended up leaving and figured we would just rent an umbrella. Well, once we were at the beach we went into one of those stores that sells everything from bathing suits and flip flops to sand toys and rafts. We found a fantastic tent that was only $19.99 and it was great. So many people on the beach had it. We could all sit in it (4 of us) and my son even took a nap in it. We were never really in it at the same time, in fact, we hardly used it, but at least we knew we had protection from the sun if we needed it. Anyway, I'm not sure how the beach is that you are going to, but if you don't find one online or at a store, I'm sure you could find a great one at the spot you go to. I'm sure you want to be prepared though, but it could be a last resort.

I gave up. I assume you are talking about one that twists up and pops up so you aren't dealing with tent poles. I wanted one so bad. I bought one online and it was nifty, but I couldn't close it myself and it was hot inside, even with the window in it, then I tore a hole in the bottom cuz I put my chair on the nylon floor over asphalt.

You might try the SportBrella. A lot of retailers are carrying these this year. I used mine the first time last weekend at the beach. I was easy to put up and little pockets on the side filled with sand to help hold it down. I did at 2 stakes, but it never budged all day in the coastal wind.
