Hello Mamas!
Anyone know of a good CPA who can help us wih our taxes? Oh and we live in Gilbert so someone in the east valley would be great. Last time we went to a CPA it cost us $350 and we don't have that kind of money now. I normally do our taxes online, but this year I can't because we got a 1099-C from our home forclosure. I need someone who knows all the latest info about what the government is doing for those of us who got those and who wont break the bank in the process of helping us with our taxes.

I'm a CPA and may be able to help you with the 1099-C so you can still do your own taxes. I don't do taxes as my day job but I do them on a volunteer basis and I may be able to quide you. You may even qualify to have them done for free through a program called Volunteer Income Tax Assistance although the 1099-C may be out of scope of the program. Send me a note if you're interested and I'll do some research for you.
You should try TurboTax.com they have spots for all that info and I think it calculates it for you all you have to do is enter the #'s on the 1099-C...Checki it out before you go to someone...:)

He is FAST, does a great job and even though his fees have gone up since we started using him 8 yrs ago, I am pretty sure he's still less than what you were paying. I recommend Chris Freeland. She's a friend of ours from church and has been in the business for a lot of years. She is very knowledgeable and helped us through setting up our own business. She's never done our regular taxes (we've always used Turbo Tax) but the rate she is going to charge us for our business filings is very reasonable and a lot of our friends use her with rave reviews.
