I have hardwood flooring thru out my house except the bedrooms, and it's only been 2 1/2 years for my super hyper dog scratched and tore part of the edges out with her nails. So i'm considering to get a makeover to tile flooring. I'm into the idea of choosing some wood-like tiles, anyone got suggestion where to go and which company is good? Went to Lowes and their price is quite high consider the quality, plus the ridiculously price for taken the hardwood floor out. So i would appreciate if anyone has any idea for me. Thank you.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for all the inputs ....
@K D., u had made a good point about not changing until my dog's situation gets better ... but i doubt this will solve in these couple of years. The floor is just too unbearable to look at it .... that's why i'm researching how much will it cost to have it done. I asked Lowes before and they told me they will charge at least $7 per sq ft to take out the hardwood floor, and it's just crazy.

@Tina Van Z ... redo the floor is nice, coz i really like hardwood, but since my dog will not stop racing in my house, and the scratches might happened all over again so i'm a little hesitate to have hardwood again.

my husband and i do flooring as a secondary income, he does it mainly. we usually get ceramic tiling with cement and grouting, the stick down tiling doesn't work as well well, but best used in the summer when your flooring is hotter, the glue will stick better if you go that rout and it's easier to pull up if you want to redo you floors later on. if you do ceramic tiling don't do it all over your floor or you'll be dealing with cracks as your house sets throughout the years.

If you have a hyper 2 1/2 year old dog, I would just leave the floor until your sure the dog will not do anymore damage. Depending on the type of wood floor you have you may be able to refinish it. It typically cost $1.50 to $2.00 a square foot to take out a wood floor. It is a hard job. We have used Nadine's Flooring Company for both wood and tile floors. They also fixed our wood floor after we had a slab leak. You should talk to a few flooring companies or contractors to get a better idea of the costs and what would be best for your household. Good luck!

Hi,
I use an individual named Ray. He is the kindest nicest man and his work is superb. I have referred him to many friends and they can't believe how quickly he does the work and how reasonable he is. I got quote after quote and no one could come close to him. He guarantees his work and he is just untouchable. If you decide to get a quote from him just tell him P. sent him. I am sending you his email address. I really really think you will appreciate and love his work and his work ethic.

Have you thought of fixing the damaged wood and stripping it? Hand scraping it across the grain has REALLY hidden all of our hits from the 2 toddlers and 50lb dog...that may be the cheaper way to go and still keep your floors.

Abraham with Flooring Concepts is great! His number is ###-###-####. His company did my jack and jill bathroom, and my kitchen redo including the granite countertops and backsplash. Hopefully he will be doing my master bath soon!
