I am hoping there are a few of you moms out there who have gone through this or might be able to shed some light on the subject.
I have a 3 month old son, who I breast feed exclusively. For the past 2.5 weeks he has had green diarrhea. Not seedy or solid at all. This is my second child, so I know what breast fed baby poop should look like and he used to have the "normal" yellow seedy poop. He went from 3-4 poops to about 6-8 poops.
The MD believes its just a stomach bug, which can last a couple weeks. I just feel like there is no end in sight and am getting concerned.
Thankfully, he did still gain 1/2 lb in a 2 week time period and he is still cheerful (not acting sick).
BTW, this also started 4 days after receiving the rotavirus vaccine. I read that there is about a 1-3% chance of diarrhea after receiving.
So any moms or health care professionals out there have a similar experiences.
Thanks

Have you eaten or drank anything that is purple lately? Purple foods can cause bright green poop. The dyes in the drinks do that, if you have, it might mean your child can not digest that correctly, hence the diarrehea and the dye can create the green. I learned this when my kids drank grape kool aid the first time and my duaghter freaked out becasue her poop was bright green! :)

My son's green poop come from breastmilk. I switch breast too often, and he only got the foremilk. Then I tried to nurse more on each side to make sure he also get the hindmilk. And his poop back to normal.

If you haven't already, try cutting all dairy out of your diet. I'm having the same problem with my son because he has a diary intolerance. I've given up the obvious dairy, but I am having a hard time giving up things like chocolate.

It could be an allergy. When my son was about your son's age, he had diapers that sound similar to your son's, and it turned out he was/is allergic to milk and egg. Try cutting dairy totally out of your diet for 7-10 days to see if it helps things at all. It sounds hard, but you can do it. I ended up cutting milk and egg out of my diet for a year. You can also bring a diaper to your doctor and they could check it for traces of blood (another indication of dairy intolerance/allergy), although that is not always foolproof as it did not catch my son's allergy. You may also want to try taking a probiotic (PB 8 is a good brand they sell at Whole Foods). It might help break down any proteins your son may not be able to tolerate -- if the allergy/intolerance thing is the cause.
