Both of mine did this when they had 4 teeth. Luckily I read it was normal in one of my books so I didn't worry about it with my first. He did it longer than my youngest I think, but they both stopped within a few months.
My 10 month old daughter has her bottom two teeth and her top two are now coming in. She recently started grinding them and wont stop. She does it all day long! Any suggestions on how to get her to stop? Its a terrible sound and I am sure it isnt good for her teeth.

It's pretty normal for them to do that. It's a new sensation. She should stop once she finds the next "new" thing to do over and over!

I have no idea how to get her to stop, but what I can tell you, for what it's worth, is that my 3 year old grinds his teeth and both the dentist and his pediatrician have told me that it isn't doing any harm to his teeth at this age because his jaw isn't strong enough to cause damage...I know it doesn't help much, but at least you can be sure its only VERY annoying (I can sympathize) and not hurting her any!
Ah, grinding of the teeth. My oldest did this and now that my youngest is getting his teeth I am sure that he will do it. Although annoying sounding, this is quite normal. Without teeth our babies rub their gums together and apply pressure, but now that teeth are in we can hear it. It is a phase that will pass. There really is no use trying to stop this behavoir...you will more than likely waste a lot of energy an time. Just let it happen. It will end as quickly as it started. The only time you really need to worry about grinding teeth is when the child starts getting perm. teeth. HOpe this helps.
She's probably just 'practicing' the feel of them. About all babies do this when they get a couple upper AND lower teeth, but not excessively. Are you sure she does it SO much, or is it just such a 'grating' sound (and grating on the nerves) that it just SEEMS like she does it too much? I don't know anything you can do to stop it. The old folks used to say that grinding teeth was a sign of 'worms' (and lots of other things were, too, so they just 'dosed' their kids for worms periodically). You don't hear much about that any more (except from the 'colon cleanse' proponents), but surely she'll stop soon! Hope so for your sake!
Happy New Year!
