What would you be using this for? That would be the primary information before experiences could be sought.I hope others can give you a broad range of information.

I LOVED Gripe Water! My daughter had acid reflux when she was a baby, and I used it all the time for her! It is by far the quickest and best thing for gassy babies! Where can you get it here in the States?

It's GREAT! But be careful of which brand you get. We got one accidentally that required refridgeration. Not very convienient and it didn't seem to work as well. And my daughter loves the taste of it too, so it makes it very easy to give it to her.

From what all these moms are saying, I am really sad that no one told me about this when my fussy baby was miserable. Boo Hoo!

I had huge success with Gripe Water. I used the organic kind and it helped with everything from hiccups to upset tummy. I stongly suggest at least trying it.

Hello N.! We used gripe water for a couple months with my son. He had acid reflux. He didn't have collic but he was hard to soothe. GRIPE water helped immensly. It calmed him completely. Sometimes we didn't even give him the water... just put the empty dropper in his mouth and that would do the trick. He would just take a deep breath and calm completely. It was the wierdest thing! My friends and family called it the miracle water. My sister in law used it too with her son. She is the one that introduced me to it when my son was born. Good luck! :)

I usually used Little Tummies Gas Drops for when my kids were gassy (which was most of the time) but I did use Gripe water when there would be times they would almost mimick being collicky or would be constipated and it was awesome! I didn't use it on a regular basis but did keep it in the cabinet for those "just in case" times. I thought it was kinda pricey at the time (which was roughly 4 years ago).

If you are considering it, I would certainly say it is worth a try and to try it once and see if the baby has any ill effects from it. If not, I'd say it's probably safe in moderation but it's always good to check with your Dr. or at least let them know you are using it so it doesn't counter any other prescriptions the kids might be on.

I highly recommend it! My son had a bad case of colic and this really helped. I do recommend using pure gripe water that you get from Indian grocery stores. It costs around $5.00 a bottle, but it lasts for awhile. It smells like pickle juice (I think), but my son loved it! There are a couple Indian grocery stores off Metcalf and one in Olathe that I know of for sure. Just look in the phone book. The gripe water they sell at grocery stores and babies R us may be ok, but my Doula told me these brands have extra ingredients added that aren't necessary or as healthy for baby. Also, gripe water seemed to get rid of my son's hicuups almost immediately!! Good luck!

I have heard of it but I don't know how effective it is. I saw it in an infant child care room I was substituting in, and I read the ingredients and I think I remember seeing some preservatives or artificial ingredients. BUT, I have also seen a version of it (maybe same brand but organic version?) at a health food store that did not have any artificial ingredients or preservatives in it. I would just be careful about what is in it before you give it to your baby. Artificial ingredients can be really damaging to such little babies since they are so tiny and everything they ingest is absorbed, even very small amounts of ingredients.

I'll add to the recommendations: the Baby's Bliss Grip Water is what we've used.

It is at Walgreen's in the baby aisle, and my sister--a family practice doc--said all the ingredients were safe even when my girl was only a couple months old. She was not a good burper and had trouble with gas. Now we use it sometimes to help with constipation and she will drink it down from the dropper like candy--even right after she's knitted up her lips and refused to take a bottle.

I am definitely pro Gripe Water. My son was a relatively content baby, but we kept it on hand and certainly used it when needed. I have several friends that swear by it. We used the Baby's Bliss Grip Water (which is completely natural I believe). At first we could only find it at health food stores, but now Walgreen's carries it in the baby aisle.

N.,
I used Gripe Water with my son when he was a newborn. He was my 3rd and none of the usual tricks worked on him but this one did for sure. He didn't have colic but I think he was such a fast eater that he'd have problems with air bubbles and digesting. Hope this helps you too!

I work for a pediatrics office; I checked with our nurse practitioner, and Gripe Water contains sodium bicarbonate that can be dangerous to infants.

Hope this is helpful.

I've never heard of it, but I'm not sure you should give your 6 week old too much water, I actually read that you have to be very careful when mixing formula b/c if you add too much water and not enough mix that it will give the baby too much water in his body. I hadn't realized there was such a thing as too much water! I'd def. check with my ped. on this one.

YES, I have an opinion -- IT'S MAGIC!! :)

Seriously, DD got the hiccups (which of course ends up w/ tons of air in her belly) EVERY time she ate for probably the first 3 months. Baby's Bliss gripe water stopped those hiccups IMMEDIATELY 99% of the time. Better yet, she actually seemed to like the taste (smells like black licorice), so it was no trouble to give it to her. We went through I don't know how many bottles of the stuff, and Baby's Bliss was definitely superior to other brands we tried (Little Tummys didn't do anything at all for her).

I got the BBGW as a gift from a friend who said "trust me, you're going to need this and it WORKS!", and now, I include a bottle with every baby gift I give. I found the best price for it to be at www.drugstore.com, which offers free shipping for orders over $50.

My best friend used gripe water for her son and said it was the best thing she had ever found for her little guy. She had him to the doctor and nothing they gave him seemed to work. She ended up finding out about it online and asked the pharmacy to order it for him. Worked great for him

I dont think I would have made it through my sons first year without it! It works instantly. You could literally feel, see and hear his stomach settling. It is the best stuff I have found for gas. I gave my sis in law 3 bottles of it when she had her son. My daughter is 5 and I wish I had known about it with her, im sure it would have helped alot of her colic problems! I used Babys Bliss. Im not sure if Wally World carries it but I know Walgreens does! GOod Luck!

We used it in an effort to calm our colicky baby around 1-2 mos old. It did stop her from screaming while she was swallowing it but other than that, it didn't help too much. We did find it useful with her hiccups. She got hiccups all of the time and just a little gripe water made them go right away.

I've heard it's great, but never used it. I also have heard that if you are breastfeeding you can take the main ingredient as a supplement (I think it is fennel) and it will help and you don't have to feed it to your baby then. Way cool.

I use gripe water with my daughter (now 2), and I recommend it to many of my patients. We use it mainly for constipation... usually within thirty minutes of giving it to Emily, she will have a BM. My patients have said it also helps with gassiness and fussiness. I also think it makes their breath smell really sweet ;-)

IMPO, you need to be careful about the brand that you use. Make sure there are no flavors or colors in it. The brand I prefer is ColicEase, but I have heard that another great place to get it is at India Mart.

Hope that helps.
