I actually took the time to join Mamapedia so I could send a huge THANKS to the poster who recommended Lestoil! I have an almost 10-year-old Lands End parka that's warm, wonderful, and red -- but will NOT let go of ground-in dirt. I have tried Oxy-Clean soaks, Shout, etc. Was getting tired of walking around looking like my coat was filthy right after washing but didn't want to shell out $$$ to buy a new one when the only problem was grime. Tried Magic Eraser and it even resisted that. Then I hunted down Lestoil at my local Walmart. Yeah, it's a bit pungent out of the bottle, but it worked!!! I decided to do a test and work in the full-strength Lestoil with a standard household nylon brush just along the length of the zipper and one pocket, just to see if I noticed a difference. Waited 30 minutes, laundered as usual. UNBELIEVABLE. Not only was the ground-in dirt gone from the test areas, the residual Lestoil in the wash water de-grimed 99.9% of the dirt on the rest of the coat without direct application. I have one or two stubborn spots I need to attack on their own, but Lestoil exceeded my wildest expectations. Looks like a brand-new coat:-) Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
