I am hoping we can all teach our daughters they are beautiful as they are for what is inside them and not just for what they look like on the outside. We need to be devoted protectors for our daughters against the culture that tells them they have to look a certain way to be considered appealing/worthy to the world.
Off my soapbox now!! No doubt you love your daughter and just want to enjoy this part of your relationship. Not judging you at all, just the media culture that puts airbrushed, anorexic women forward as completely unrealistic models for our girls. Okay, seriously I will stop! Enjoy your precious baby :)
A., please don't do anything to her hair. She's still only a baby. If she has the genetics of it, it'll show now or it'll show later on. My last one has a lot of curls and the others have small amount of curls and theirs didn't show until close to two I think. My third's hair showed curls right after he was born. If his hair is wet, it is more curly than when it's dry.
She is still baby. Be gentle and if you want to, put a barat in her hair but MAKE SURE she doesn't get it off or anything you put in her hair because of choking hazards!!
Enjoy her while she's young and let her be a kid by letting her get messy by exploring and I always make sure I make it bath night for my boys on the night they play in the park or in dirt or on the beach and if they eat spaghetti, homemade macaroni and cheese or chicken alfredo. That way they can learn to use utensils and experiment and then they get a bath!! Have fun with her and she dosn't care what her hair looks like, she enjoying the things she can explore and learn and grow. :) Jesus blessed you with her! :)
Hi momma,
I know what you want but is that what is best for baby. Baby doesn't care what the hair looks like. Clean and neat is a great look for adults and children. How will she learn to be satisfied with natural self if you begin her very existence with the insistence that she be something she is not. If her hair isn't curly, it won't stay curly and would probably look better the way it is naturally.
Just keep her hair healthy, clean and neat. Ribbons, hair bows, barretts and clips are all nice but to repeat another writer, watch out for a possible chocking hazzard.
Relax about the hair and just enjoy your girl as is. Be encouraged and be blessed.
Braiding her hair while damp and letting it dry is a sure way to get some curl. You could also try twisting her hair. This gives a nice soft wave. You simply take 2 strands of hair and twist them individually in one direction. Then you twist them together in the opposite direction and fasten it at the end. Not too tight and make sure the rubber bands or clips do not fall out (may present a choking hazard!!)good luck
A.,
Your baby's hair and scalp are fragile at this age. Don't mess with it. If it's particularly long and thick it might need to be trimmed occasionally, but otherwise washing her hair with a gentle shampoo every other day and gently brushing it daily with a soft-bristled brush is all the maintenance it needs.
Hair texture is determined by genetics, so there's no special food, vitamin or herb that will make your baby's hair curly if it's pre-determined to be straight. Even if there was, I would never recommend giving it to your baby. Ditto for shampoos that claim to make straight hair curly. Anything other than baby shampoo is too harsh for a ten-month-old. And those shampoos don't work. Trust me.
With all due respect, your baby doesn't care what her hair looks like and you shouldn't, either. Our kids are not little accessories or dolls to decorate at our whim. Let your daughter's hair grow in its natural state, be it straight, wavy or curly, and let her decide when she's older how she wants to wear it. It's her hair, after all, and as long as she keeps it clean and well-groomed she should be allowed to wear it however she wants.
Dear A., I do not think you can DO anything to your babies hair but leave it as it is naturally. Anything that makes curls is a chemical and will be harmful to baby. My best, Grandma Mary
Hi mom!! I use Just For Me products on my daughter. It has water in it which makes the hair curly. No harsh products. One of the girls at the pre-school's hair came out on one side because her mom tried to relax her hair. Chemicals are too harsh for the babies!! I feel so bad for this little cutie pie. All you can really do for now is braids (not too tight) and try different kids products. I'm sure your daughter is a cutie, no matter how her hair looks. :-)
I can only hope that your choice to make her hair curly is not planned to be a permanant change. Sorry, just a thought.
To curl a little ones hair, I would suggest hot rollers, cool rollers (put in while wet) or twist rollers (they are straight and you wrap them around the hair, while damp).
You really don't want to use much heat when doing this, it may damage her hair - its too young, and not ready for dramatic change.
You can also braid her hair. A bunch of little braids will do alot. braid her hair while its damp, let her sleep in it, then take them out, after using the blow dryer - on cool and low, to dry it the rest of the way.
Good luck
She's way to young to be messing with her scalp and hair....
Do not use chemicals, rubber bands, curling ions, or hot rollers as all this does damage.
After shampooing her hair, try rolling her hair ((in sm. sections and not to tight))) around your finger while it's still wet and gently remove your finger....wait to let her hair dry, then fluff it out with your fingers...
Maybe there is a language barrier here because I am not sure how baby lotion makes hair curly. Are you asking how to tame curly hair? Why not just let her be a baby. She is beautiful just the way she is.
is there something.. i would like to know what you find out.. thanks..
Hi! Have you tired shea butter lotion.
