My brother used to buy this huge tub of gel from the dollar store, and it worked pretty well. :)
Recently, when we had my son's hair cut, the stylist had done a kind of messy, spiky look, but it wasn't wet or greasy looking. My son liked it and wants to keep doing it. We have tried some of the Axe paste that my husband uses. However, it did not hold well and it smells too "manly" for a little boy. I am not sure that I want to spend $20 on a little jar of "salon" styling product, especially since I don't know how long he will want to keep styling his hair.
I am looking for somthing that will hold all day, doesn't have a strong smell, and is realativly inexpensive. What do you recommend? What products do you use for your son?

I use a styling paste on my 4 year old son and although it is expensive, it smells like vanilla cookies and a little goes a long way. It's called Dirt by Jonathan and you can get it at Sephora. 1 Jar lasts about 2 years and we use it every day. Even if your son changes his hair style, hair should always be styled in some way. We just use it to keep my son's hair brushed to the side. I hate the bangs just brushed down in the front.
Go to your local 99 cent store. They have a hair product called "Funky Style". It has very little fragrance when first put on and none after it dries. It has very good hold.
38 ounces,for 99.99 cents.
I personally think you should hold off on the hair styling products for a child until they are at least teenagers. Please . . . Don't teach him that appearance is everything.
Good luck to you and yours.
I use the axe on my son. He's got a Mohawk though...when it was a long mohawk I took it old school with the bees wax and Elmer's glue lol...My son needs the extra manly scent he sweats and plays hard so yea he's kinda stinky!
The stuff at Walmart is called Monkey Brains. We use just a tiny bit of the Axe on our son's hair because he has pieces that stick out everywhere, but yes, that scent is strong! We use the Monkey Brains conditioner and it works well, so I bet the get works well too. The only bad thing about the kid products is they tend to have a strong scent as well, usually something food-related. Good luck!
They have kid products at Walmart Monkey something the pomade/wax works really good it dorsn't leave it wet looking or sticky but with those products you have to activate the fibers by clapping your hands togethef after rubbing it in your hands slightly
