Hi ladies,
Our little pumpkin is turning one, and we decided to do a halloween theme. I am just looking for a few ideas here on what to do and what to have. There will be a couple kids there, so I want them to be entertained as well.

Any suggestions on fun creative little favors for the kids?
Any ideas for games or just things to keep them occupied?
Any thoughts on fun little halloween snacks to have?
Any ideas for keepsakes, like something for guests to sign or ways to remember 1st b-day?

Thanks for your input :)

What can I do next?

food: #1 witch's hats made from fudge-stripe cookies, striped side down. Then using a dab of chocolate frosting, "glue" an unwrapped Kiss on top. & you have a witch's hat! (for Thanksgiving, substiture a Rolo & pipe yellow icing into a buckle for a Pilgrim hat)
for other ideas hit the mfg websites for Pillsbury, MM, Betty Crocker, etc.

Games: #1 stuff little white gloves (the magic stretch kind) with cotton balls, whipstich closed, & decorate as a ghost using a marker. Use these for tossing games....into buckets, hot potato, etc. Can be used for many games.
#2 pin the tail on the black cat, using poster boards for the supplies.
#3 use a mini pumpkin for hot potato.
#4 decorate an orange playball into a jack-o-lantern & use empty milk jugs for "ghosts"....& play Ghost Bowling.
For other ideas, checkout FamilyFun's website.
Keepsake: use orange foam sheets & make pumpkin frames & insert a photo of each guest.

Ok she may be a teeny big for this but if you can find a Big pumpkin and hollow it out and get a pic of her in it, those are adorable. Also a fun keep sake you can make is get washable paint and dip her feet in it and then you use the feet prints as bat wings and make a little bat body/head and it is adorable ( we did this at the daycare) If you are having older kids at the birthday buying small pumpkins and letting kids paint/draw faces on them is fun. First birthdays are more for mom and dad than anything, make sure she gets her normal nap and routine and you will all have a great day.
Maybe you could make some of the halloween prop pictures and have each guest take a pic with your daughter and put it in a scrap book? Hope it is a fabulous happy birthday = )

Jody,
Activity suggestions:
1. Make cookies shaped like pumpkins and let the kids decorate them (if you use dried or fresh fruit bits even healthier).

2. Halloween themed coloring pages (check out Parents.com)

3. Pin the features on the scarecrow or jack o'lantern.

Snacks: Apple slices and carmel or cream cheese dip, fresh veggies and pretzels with dip (my boys love bell peppers and carrots with dip), mini bagel pizzas, dried fruit bits (you could place around in small bowls), mini corn dogs,

Goody bags: you cant go wrong with fruit snacks and stickers. If you have a US Toy or Fun Services by you check them out. I pick up boxes of 24 crayons when they go on sale for party favors too. or if you have a digital camera and printer, snap pics of the guests with the birthday girl and give them out @ the end of the party (delegate the task to a trusted family member or friend)

Good luck.

My oldest son's birthday is in the begining of October. For his first birthday I made pumpkins out of baby food jars for every one.
I thoughly cleaned the jars & lids. Then I punched a small hole (a small nail works well) in the lid, then I painted the outside of the jars orange & the outside of the lids green, finally I painted a jack-o-lanturn face with black paint. I don't remember what type of paint I used (knowing me I probably hand painted them, but you can look into spray paint for glass). Then when they were dry I curled a small piece of green pipe cleaner around my finger & inserted it into the hole & twisted the piece on the unpainted side (just to keep it from falling out). Then you can fill them with candy corn, colored m&m's or what ever!
I can e-mail you photos if you like.

God bless & happy 1st birthday to your little girl!

Good Morning Jody, First I will be joining you in prayer for your little angels healing also. God is Still in the Miracle business.

Wow Betsy had some great Idea's, I was having a hard time coming up with something as a keep sake. you could have them dress in their costumes ( if you dress up) and take pictures. Make Cupcakes with spider webs on them with frosting, or just decorate them and put a candy pumpkin on each one. I was thinking before I read Betsy's response about getting each child a t-shirt (Micheals had them 5 for 10.00 last week) and let them decorate them with washable markers, finger paints. Messy yup it is. *smiling* I am assuming the others moms will be in attendance too.

Nothing scary for little folks, the funny smiling decorations are so cute. I love the idea of getting the pumpkins to color on also

Have a great party and get lots of pictures.

Maybe you could make pumpkin sugar cookies and have the frosting and sprinkles for the kids to decorate them or even cupcakes.....
