HFM disease shouldn't take 3 months to go away...10 days..it's a virus so no antibiotic will work for it.

Sounds like he is over medicated with antibiotics ESPECIALLY for a virus...antibiotics do NOT work on viruses ONLY bacteria.

If he's eating - then he probably doesn't have HFM as the blisters can get really bad in the mouth and throat.

Get a second opinion. Dump this pediatrician as it's obvious he doesn't know what he's doing...(prescribing antibiotics for HFM and THREE creams for the blisters..)

STOP with all the medications. Take him to a new doctor. Give him an oatmeal or Epsom salt bath....

I would get a second opinion-and seek out a specialist for it. Are you even sure that this is what it is?

From what I understand, hand foot mouth is viral and therefore, it has to run it's course. No amount of antibiotics would make a difference and I'm a little surprised you didn't know this. I'm also surprised that you haven't taken your child to another doctor. 3 months is VERY long, to have your child in pain & have no resolution to the sickness yet.

Why you are still seeing this pediatrician is beyond me. He clearly has no clue what he's doing & should be reported.

We used Immuplex and it was gone in 1 week. My kids all swallow vitamins, but the baby, I mixed it in his food and he was no worse for wear. The just had it a few months ago.

We use Immuplex from Standard Process for viruses, and I have the kids take it to keep their immune systems up during flu season. I got the flu last year and was over it in 2 days with massive amounts of Immuplex and Oscilloccinum.

Antibiotics for a virus? Are you sure he has a degree?

When my son had HF&Mouth, my son was not prescribed (nor even diagnosed with the disease) any antibiotics. I THINK he had HF&M symptoms, so that's where I am coming from.

3 months? I would have taken my son to the doctor after 3 WEEKS of not getting better. Time to take your child to a different doctor .... like TOMORROW. It could be, that your child is having an allergic reaction to antibiotics and that he doesn't even have HF&Mouth disease. There are lots of kinds of antibiotics. Ten different names could all be part of the penicilin family .... and your son may be allergic to penicillin. Your son was diagnosed with HF&M, but because he showed what symptoms? Perhaps that intial diagnosis was wrong and these bumps/blisters are an allergic reaction to the antibiotics.

My nephew had these same symptoms that lasted for weeks and his ped did the same thing, nothing worked. Finally a nurse friend told her to tell the doctor to do a culture of the skin. Turns out he had MRSA, gotten from his day care.
I would get another opinion and have a culture done.
