yes, and they work wonderfully.
Note - you MUST water it every day/every other day. About 1/2 gallon give or take depending on weather conditions.
With very limited space outdoors (a smallish balcony/deck), I am trying to grow some veggies and herb in pots. I am toying with the idea of using those plant bags that hang the tomato (or anything else) upside down. No one I meet has ever used them so here are the questions;
Have you used them? If so, were they successfull or something to stear clear of?
Anyone make their own and want to share directions?

I know a lot of people that have used them and been very successful. They tend to produce quicker than my garden.
If you google hanging plant bag there are lots of ideas. One guy made one from the miracle grow bag the soil came in.
I know people who have used them with a lot of success--The Topsy Turvey, and it's distant, knock-off cousin: The Upsy Downsy!
They need a LOT of water since it all goes right through (no pot) so you have to water it VERY frequently.
I used one a couple of years ago, tomato grew ok, didn't produce except a few poor quality tomatoes, same type of plant in garden was fine. Never used it again. There are some varieties that are better suited to the bag, shorter/bushier vine.
Good luck.
Can't wait to see the responses, b/c I bought one but haven't put it up/out yet.
I tried a pair.
I got a base to hang them from (I had no where else to hang them from) and the whole thing collapsed from the weight when I watered.
I had no desire to try again.
You need a very sturdy place to hang from.
I know some people who've used them successfully but I know more people who use regular patio pot/planters who had better crop yields.
Birds nested in mine. I have better luck growing tomatoes the old-fashioned way.
I have used them (Topsy Turvey) for the past 2 years and have had great success. I hung it on my back deck in direct sunlight. I watered it every morning and every evening on hot days, once day on mild days. My husband said they tasted great and my boys loved checking the plant every day. I used early girl plants.
I've had a few- started out with the generic tomato ones which are next to impossible to get the plant into without killing it. I'm a huge fan of the Topsy Turvy one. It's easy to use, and I got some great tomatoes last year. I already have about 50 flowers on mine this year! Just make sure the post is strong. They get very heavy. Tomato plants also need tons of water and regular feeding. I just bought one of those glass bulbs that water automatically so that I don't have to worry about super-hot days and drying out. Love it! (Planted peppers accidentally one year in it and got a bunch!)
they're okay. the tomato plants get weird because they WANT to grow up, so they contort themselves madly. i got discouraged with mine because i hung them from high beams over my kitchen garden where it was inconvenient to water them. and they need a LOT of water.
but they were successful in that they grew tomatoes!
