Has Anyone Been Induced Early?

i was induced with all 3 of kids well might as well say 2 of my kids. My first daughter was at 39 wks n my second daughter was at 35 wks. And was suppose to be induced with my son but he was born at the time they was suppose to induce me.All it does is spend up the labor process and nothing to be scared of. But would get a second opinion with the baby being that early. Wish the best of luck to you and the baby. Hope everything goes well.

it sux! i'd definately sign up for epidural if i were you. i was induced with my daughter, and the contractions got so strong that she was starting to stress and almost had a cecerian...i had 45 min non stop contractions, and were still so strong that even with epidural just the pressure alone was intense. when pushing time came i got sick and almot passed out cause it was THAT HARD...i'll never do that again if induction is necessary, i'll ask for a c-section

With Pit the contractions come on hard and fast with little recovery time in between (I have been induced twice). For me the good part was that labor was fast, but with them doing it so early that may not be the case for you, I am not sure. Consider an epidural, it helps take the edge off. Most of all, try to relax about it. It may not be ideal, but it is all about the end result, a healthy baby. I hope all goes well, and you will be in my prayers.

Make sure the Hospital where you deliver has an intensive care unit especially for preemies. The baby will probably stay for a while longer than you do, but they usually let the moms visit as much as they want. Ask about the rules of the hospital.Get a tour ahead of time. Pain medication or an epidural will not hurt the baby. With the prob;ems you are having, you may want to get another opinion, just to be sure you should go so early. I was induced with my second (not early - she was late). I agree that you should consider an epidural, but it isn't that scary, actually. I was worried, but it was fine. Labor does move faster and more violently, but it isn't like all of a sudden you're in severe labor - there is still a build-up. Just make sure you are communicating with your nurse and doctor about how you are feeling with each increase in dosage. Good luck.

You've got some scary replies so I want to throw my opinion in.

I was induced 3 weeks early with my daughter due to Pregnancy induced hyper tension. It was awesome!!! Thankfully I did not have the experience others mentioned. I was in a pain for about 20 minutes while I was trying to wait to get the epidural (I was only 2 cm and didn't want the epi to slow it down) finally I got the epidural and had my daughter stress and pain free within the hour. I tell everyone I know that my labor and delivery was the best part of the pregnancy!! I hate being pregnant.
I am 16 weeks pregnant with my second and have already spoke to my dr. about inducing with this one too. I live about 45 min from the hospital that I will deliver at, and I can't imagine making the drive while having contractions! I'm a whimp when it comes to pain. My dr. is a good doctor and said we would talk about it when the time came, she didn't just schedule me in :)

I'm so sorry that your cancer is recurring. While there certainly are risks to induction, the bigger concern here is the risk of having a premature baby, 9 weeks or so early. Be sure that you are giving birth in a hospital that has the proper facilities for preemies. I know a lot of people are suggesting pains meds and such, but be sure you're making the right choices for your premature baby (such as avoiding narcotic drugs in labor)

2 months is pretty early. I would get a second opinion and find out for sure what the difference would make in both your health and the health of the baby.

That being said, I was induced a few days early and it was awesome. They gave me an epidural and I read a book and took a nap.

Yes, I was induced with my second and it was wonderful.... I had an epidural though, since induction contractions usually come on strong and hard very rapidly. I've had 2 babies, one came naturally, and the other was induced. But everyone's experience is going to be different, (my sister was induced with her 3rd and it was a very long and trying experience).

My father had leukemia and two bone marrow transplants among other things, I was raised around it, so I know the importance of timely care. He used both western medicine as well as dietary nutrition to help. You do what you need to do to care for yourself and the baby. Big hugs! Feel free to chat with me whenever about it!

Wow, 32 weeks? I had a baby at 32 weeks, that was scary!

I think first off I would ask what the risks/benefits to waiting longer might be.

I'm so sorry about your leukemia. My husband had colon cancer and will never take his health for granted again.

You might consider talking to a nutritionist and see if you can treat it with diet at least until closer to your due date.

As for induction, it doesn't work very well if your body isn't ready to deliver. Your body is made to protect your little one and may hold on tightly. :) My sister was due and even for her induction was awful (though it did work...she did dilate.)

I highly suggest you get a doula!

I had my daughter 5 weeks early and my doctor told me she would be surprised if induction was possible that early. She "checked" me and and said she thought it would be a bad idea to try to induce because it would take too long and then most likely still end in a c-section. She suggested just starting with the c-section so that I wasn't already worn out and ending the day with an emergency c-section. We planned the c-section and everything went well. I wish you the best with the baby and your personal battle with leukemia. I'm so sorry you are going through that.
