Has anyone done a water fast? If so for how long and what were the pros and cons of it? and how much weight did you lose if you did lose weight?

I know people will say its not healthy I'm not looking for that so much, just more so people who have done it.

What can I do next?

i haven't, because i know better. I used to work in a health food store and met plenty of people who tried it and would never recommend it. I met many other people who did the master cleanse and 100% of those people recommended it for 7 to 10 days. I did the master cleanse as well and loved it!

I have, for religious reasons, and only for one day at a time. I did this once a week for several months.

If you decide to do it, even for a day, ask your doctor about it first to be sure you don't have any chemical (blood sugar, etc) reasons not to do it. I think more than one day of J. water can't be good for you. Again, your doctor will have good advice about it. Also, listen to your body. If you start to feel light headed or something, maybe a water fast isn't right for you.

I do one once a month for a full 24 hours. I'm not sure how long you plan on doing one for but go too long w/o any type of nourishment will make your brain starve. It's got great benefits, I recommend them but not for days and days:)

I have lost a significant amount of weight on the Master Cleanse in the past (water, lemon juice, grade b maple syrup). It's easier to maintain because the sugar keeps you from being hungry, and the lemon juice makes your skin glow. I've lost like 5 pounds in 3-4 days before. I used to do it a few times per year. It's great in advance of a special occasion where yo want to be a little extra slim. But you do gain the weight back IMMEDIATELY plus some even if you eat carefully after words. And if you're over 40, I swear you don't even lose the weight during the fast AND you gain tons after. I quit doing it.

OMG! I would DIE! So no...but my grandma, who was average weight, would drink only diluted juice for one day and water with lemon about every week or so and that helped "flush" her out and keep her weight...so she said. :o)

I know that you are not looking for opinions on the water fast, so I will go with an alternative...Have you thought of maybe trying a juice fast? There is an excellent movie to watch called"Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead", you can find it "on demand". A juice fast will allow you to lose weight safely and still get the calories and nutrition that you need to maintain your valuable muscle. The guy in the movie lost 75 pounds in 2 months under the supervision of a doctor. There is also a free website devoted to the movie's diet plan: jointhereboot.com/reboot-program Good luck!

You don't want to do that... You will completely ruin your metabolism... (Your body will start to go into starvation mode and try to hold onto everything you put in your mouth...)

I had amazing luck with Medifast. I stuck to the bars (5 a day)... every 2-3 hours with a bottle of water each... Then- you can have a lean and green meal (or 2 lean and green meals) plus 2 snacks a day... It's low-carb, low-fat, and low-calorie... Plus- you're eating 6-8 times a day, so if you screw up for one meal, you don't feel the need to throw in the towel... And, since it's a 'triple threat' (low-carb, low-calorie, and low-fat), if you cheat and don't have one thing working for you.........you still have the other two benefits, etc... Plus- you will rev. up your metabolism because you're feeding your body every few hours...

I highly recommend it. They even have a free support website (mymedifast) where you can use the message boards, track your progress, get support, etc...

I lost the last 30 pounds of baby weight from the end of August to about X-mas. I haven't been using the bars lately, but stick to the same idea (eating little low-carb things every few hours) and haven't gained much back at all...

You can also find coupons for 75 off your purchase, etc... either in magazines or J. doing a google search for medifast coupons.
Good luck! You can do it... J. find something you can live with... I personally felt like I was eating candy bars all day (they are made with soy and splenda.. chocolate peanut butter was the best), still drank my diet soda... and would have Dove sugar-free dark chocolate a few times a day. I did not feel deprived...

I have done fasts. It is important to remember that you will not lose weight. Any pounds that seem to come off will come right back on once you eat again, and more than likely an extra couple due to the slowing of your metabolism. A fast is not useful for losing weight, only for attempting to clear out toxins. If the fast is to be done for more than a day than I would add raw veggies to your fast.
