I was just wondering has anyone taking provera to regulate your cycle? What kind of affects did you have? Has anyone taken Clomid to regulate cycles? Is provera the same as the depo provera shot? My doc said its the same!
Oh and I DONT have PCOS...

I got off the depo shot aug 06 so since then i have been spotting lightly for about 2 days every other month (my doc said that is normal). I would like to take provera to start regulating my cycles (hubby n I would like to try for our 3rd baby next year sometime). I also talked to my doc about going on clomid since I heard that can help regulate cycles but my doc said since my cycles are like every other month etc then there is no way to go on it.... Oh and when I was on the depo provera shot I was only on it for 6 mths....

I cant use any form of birth control pill or anything that has estrogen cuz of a blood clotting disorder that I have... Can anyone help? I know I should just wait it out but its been 15 months and I want to start getting cycles soon here...

What can I do next?

You may want to research or look into Metformin. It is an alternative to Clomid and etc. for some people w/ PCOS to regulate cycles.

I was put on Provera for PCOS, I hadn't had a "normal" period in about 2 years. I took Provera to regulate my cycle and got pregnant the first time I took it (not even trying to get pregnant!!!). It surprised everyone at my doctor's office and my husband and I to say the least. I responded really well to it and will use it again in the future when we are ready for #2.

I have not taken Provera to regulate cycles, but I would encourage you to talk to another doctor or a reproductive endocrinologist regarding Clomid. I had very irregular cycles and was still able to use Clomid. You may find that a first cycle of Clomid will help you to be regular and then the second one will induce ovulation. Clomid won't work long-term, of course - there are a limited number of cycles you cantake safely - but I'm surprised that your doctor won't even consider it.

Have you talked to your doctor about taking progesterone? I guess it forces a period and after 2 or 3 cycles you should be regular again. My doc tried it for me, but it didn't work...but we found I had another medical issue causing my menstral issues. I've heard it's pretty successfull with others. I'd check with your doctor to see if this is an option for you.

Im curently taking the depo shot because I am brestfeeding, I have read on the internet that it sometimes takes a year for it to fully get out of your body after being on the shot. I guess if you are looking to start your period again I would find something to help detoxify your body from the drug. Im not a huge fan of the depo shot but it was one of the few choices i had since i am still brestfeeding. Good Luck!

I take provera to regulate (or even get a period in my case) my cycles. My Ob/gyn cannot find an explanation (no pcos) and so I use it to force a period at least every 3 months and I did need to take it (with clomid) to get pregnant with my last daughter. I think it made me a little hormonal and moody but it could have been the clomid too. Good Luck!

I have been on Provera and Clomid and although I'm not sure which one worked it (they) helped regulate my cycles and I was pregnant withing 4months of beginning each of these medications.

I too was put on Provera due to PCOS. It took awhile to regulate my cycles. I was only taking it every 3 months. We had been trying to get pregnant. My doctor kept talking about putting me on clomid, but I wanted to give my body a fighting chance to beat PCOS by losing weight (that was all that changed between having my first and wanting this one). I did end up losing 21 lbs and my cycles came back. I imagine alot of it for me was losing weight but I would say the Provera definitely helped.

Good luck!
