Has Anyone Had Success Using Clomid?

Hi Moms,

I have been trying to get pregnant forever and finally have decided to use Clomid. I, apparently, am not ovulating, but all other tests have come back fine. My OB thinks that I am a perfect candidate for Clomid. I am due to start taking it in the next week.

Before I start, I wanted to get some info. from others who have used it. How bad are the side effects? I have heard that severe irritability is one side effect? Did you get pregnant on the first round of Clomid or did it take several rounds? And, if you did get pregnant was it with one child or multiple?

Anything you can tell me about your experiences with Clomid will be so appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

K.

So What Happened?

I am so thrilled! The first round of Clomid worked and I am now 12 weeks pregnant! I have had two ultrasounds so far and everything looks great, my husband and I even got to "see" the baby's heartbeat! Thank you to everyone who offered me advice about Clomid, I truly appreciate it. - K.

I took Clomid along with IUI (intra Unterine Insemination) and after 4 months of no success the drug I was on was changed to something more severe (an injectable drug - don't remember the name). Got pregnant on the 5th month and now have a beautiful 3 year old.

I can't attribute the side effects directly to the clomid as I was also on progeterone and very stressed over the whole process.

Good Luck.

I did 5 cycles of clomid w/ IUI. I got pregnant the first time, but it was ectopic. I did not get pregnant the other times, but that was because of my fertility problems. I would definitely recommend it because it's much cheaper than other fertility treatments and usually pretty successful. The side effects I noticed were MAJOR hot flashes and I also felt discomfort at the time of ovulation because my ovaries were so enlarged. Don't remember moodiness, but definitely did not enjoy the hot flashes.
Good luck!

When I discovered I wasn't ovulating, they told me I had Polycycstic Ovary Syndrome. It's essentially a hormone imbalance and there's not a whole more/different they can do for fertility, but it might be worth knowing.

Clomid was our first step with getting pregnant and after two (three?) months I stopped because I was an emotional mess. Not long after that I saw a fertility specialist and it still took us several months and IUI to finally conceive. I would suggest giving clomid a try, just be prepared and warn anyone close to you - it helped that other people knew where I was coming from. I will try it again the next time we make an effort to get pregnant, as fertitilty treatments were pretty involved and expensive.

I'd forward this to my daughter to answer, but after 1-1/2 years of trying for a 2nd baby she GOT pregnant and is home nursing a colikcy baby while her 4 year old runs around the house so she doesn't have time to do email just now.
She did try Clomid without much luck. So did 2 of her friends, one got pregnant, one didn't. But another avenue she explored was acupuncture. Her acupuncturist told her, her pulse rate was so low she'd never get pregnant unless they got it up. I don't know what all else he told her, but after several treatments she did find herself pregnant. Maybe the treatments were a factor. Who knows for sure? But she was so relaxed and comfortable about the experience she continued to go even after she was pregnant (for awhile).

She also highly recommendsa book called INCONCEIVEABLE. She could only remember the authors first name when I called her just now. First name is Julia. She has a couple of books on the subject and a CD or two. My daughter said to go to the website called
www.fertileheart.com (I think thats right) and get information. But she stressed reading this book INCONCEIVEABLE -- said it is excellent. ------G. McNamara

My experience with clomid was not a positive one. I used it for 3 cycles with IUI and did not get pregnant. On my forth cycle I used folistim and got pregnant. I have a happy healthy 8 month old son. I know several friends that used clomid and got pregnant each with only one child. The side effects for me were severe irritability and a little bloating. The first cycle I was fine but the next two were awful. I was so irritable and felt depressed. If I would have known that the side effects were going to be that bad I would have skipped the clomid and gone straight to the follistim shots. Clomid was cheaper
so I tried it first. Your chances of getting pregnant are lower than with the shots. If I was you I may try a few cycles and then move on. My fertility doctor recommended to move on after 3 cycles because it probably wasn't going to work for me. In the end my insurance covered all of the shots but did not cover the clomid. If you have any other questions feel free to email me. Good luck, D.

I am on my 3rd round of Clomid with an HCG trigger shot, and I just finished my first IUI with it yesteraday. So I have to wait 2 weeks to find out if it worked for me. Obviously, the first 2 cycles didn't work, but I had 2 mature follicles each time. This 3rd cycle I have only one mature follicle, so time will tell! The major side affects that I have with Clomid is hot flashes, and elevated body temperature. But its not unbearable. I can be moody, but I don't think its too bad. My hubby and I conceived on first daughter within 2 weeks of coming off of birth control so we were surprised at how much more difficult it was to conceive a second one. We have been trying for 4 months now. Good luck to you! I think Clomid is definitely worth a try, just make sure you are being monitored closely with your dr with ultrasounds to see how your body is reacting to it!

I haven't personally, but I have two good friends who are currently pregnant, now, after having Clomid. One of them had been trying for over a year to get pregnant, and after the first round of C they conceived. She's now about 16 wks and feeling great, only one baby in the belly (she DID have the severe irritability and mood swings though, and she does have a 2 year old so that was quite challenging. I think she also said she was pretty tired.....but I think that was after she conceived so it was most likely just the pregnancy hormones starting to kick in).
My other friend was trying for only about 4 months (she also is a mommy already to a little 15 month old girl) but her doc "okayed" them to start Clomid after those 4 mos of nothing happening. She did not have any side effects and is now 20ish wks pregnant and only one baby.
Just thought I'd share their good experiences with C on to you! Hope it's a little helpful.

They were both already blessed to have one child but they both had the difficulty in getting pregnant a second time. They were sharing in the heartbreak that you are going through.
I'm going to say a little prayer for you, good luck!

Hi K.,
I have not personally used clomid, but I am an acupuncturist in santa cruz and I work with patients fertility.
It really depends on your constitution and how clomid will affect YOU. It can be great for some people and horrible for others. I highly recommend not doing more than 3 cycles, b/c it can affect your endometrial lining and eggs if you use it too much. There is another drug called Femara, which same as clomid it can be great for some and not so great for others. Femara doesn't stay in your system as long as clomid.

What is your diagnosis. You don't ovulate, do they know why? Do you have PCOS?

I highly recommend working with an acupuncturist in conjuction with you gyn. Especially one that specializes in fertiltiy. Where do you live? I know many practitioners and could set you in the right direction if you are interested.

You can always try and cycle and see what happens and how you feel. Chances are you won't have any side effects. I understand asking others how they felt on it, but it may not be the same experience for you.

Feel free to email me if you have any other questions or are interested in a referral.

Hi K. -

I used Clomid to get pregnant. My daughter will be 20 years old in December. It worked on the first round with an ovulation predictor. Back then everything was a prescription. Now you can get ovulation predictor's over the counter.

I did experience the severe irritablity. It continued after my pregnancy when I tried to take birth control pills.

My daughter appeared to be healthy from the beginning. At age 5 a heart murmur was suspected then just watched for a while. At age 13, we discovered a large hole in the atrium wall in her heart. This is a birth defect that 1 in 1000 children experience. Can it be attributable to the Clomid? The doctors at Central California Children's Hospital made a note of it, but nothing further was investigated.

She also has low thyroid and that may be environmental versus contributed by the Clomid.

Using Clomid was successful for me and certainly less expensive and painful than some of the other fertility options some of my friends faced.

Best wishes to you whatever you decide. I remember that great longing to have a child.

Hi, K.. I understand your feeling about trying Clomid. My husband and I had tried for almost 2 yrs to get pregnant (one year on our own and one with "some" help). I switched OB/GYN's and she ran just a couple more tests that all came back OK. She suggested Clomid and went over all the possible side effects, including the possibility of multiple births. At that point we didn't care. We wanted a baby, just like you. She told me that about 75-80% of women who take Clomid get pregnant the first 3 months of taking it. Guess what!!! It only took one pill, one month and we were pregnant. I kick myself for not going on it sooner. That was awhile ago........we now have a 10 1/2 yr old daughter. Also, I never had any reaction or side effect, though for a few minutes my OB/GYN thought I might be carrying twins but we ruled that out with a quick ultrasound at 10 weeks along.

Good luck and my thoughts are with you. M.

I know this is also a late post. But I just wanted to share my experience with clomid. I too suffered from Polysistic Ovaries and wasn't ovulating properly and it was going on 2 year of "trying" with no success when I was placed on clomid.

I tried clomid for 4 months started off at 50mg and increased up to 100mg by the 4th month with no success. But lo and behold the next month my husband I finally got pregnant. The ovulator predictor things with the PCO didn't work b/c it gives a lot of false positives even with the clomid. So once I stopped stressing out with the clomid, strip test etc we got pregnant.

Now mind ya we did our own theory to get pregnant. I finally did the basal temp recording thing the month before with clomid and noticed I still wasn't ovulating until day 17 or 18. So just to make sure we didn't miss the window the following month my husband and I did the unthinkable. After my period my husband and I had sex every 2 days for the whole month (he had to wait too if you know what I mean).

I don't know if that was what got us pregnant or if it was the residual effects of the clomid. My OB said in most of his patients if they don't get pregnant within the first two cycles of clomid, chances are its not going to work with clomid. But 9 out of 10 times they will get pregnant as soon as they stop the clomid?

I had horrible side effects with the clomid though. I was nauseous, I had horrible hot flashes, and extremely moody. The way I remedied the nausea and hot flashes was to take it right before I went to bed. It seemed to work better that way!!

Good Luck and I hope this finds you preggo soon!!

I used it once as I have PCO, didnt get pregnant that time, DH wasn't *sure* he was ready for a child so I didn't push it and I got preg on my own later.

My sister was taking it for a while and it wasn't until the doctor discovered she was taking it wrong (on the 5th day after ending, instead of 5th day from when she started her period) and she got preg the first time she did it right. Then bam bam she got preg again on her own easily so her kids are 21 months apart then 18 months apart.

No multiples (unless you consider 3 kids in 4 years to be multiples haha). I on the other hand have not gotten preg again and my son's 6 1/2 now. (I haven't taken Clomid again either)

Dont recall any side effects. It probably depends on how your hormones affect you and how meds affect that, and everyone is different. If you are conscious and try to control your tongue when/if you have PMS and/or a bad day, then it'd be worth a try if you want to get pregnant.

A highly recommended book for anyone trying to get preg or just understand your body & cycles is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler(sp?)
This helped me understand why one of my friends got preg when she was feeling sick and had taken cough meds and gone to bed. This will help you understand when you're most fertile, how to tell when you are, how to know if/when you're ovulating, etc. (I just dont have enough cycles to maximize application of this info!)

Hi K.,
Sorry this is late, we were celebrating our twins' 1st birthday over the weekend. Yes, twin boys. I am not sure it was the Clomid that did it, because twins run in my family as well. My grandmother was a twin.

We tried to get pregnant for about 5 years. I have Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. We decide to try the Clomid, but go no further than that with fertility drugs or invasive reproductive methods. I was tracking my cycles with a fertility monitor, used Pre-Seed lubricant and Clomid all together in Feb/March 2007 and finally got pregnant. I used 50 mg of the Clomid which I am told is 1/2 the usual dose. My doctor upped the dosage to 100 mg. in the second round, but I never needed it. She didn't think I ovulated in the 1st cycle. The ultrasound did not show one egg prominently, let alone two. I just think they were meant to be and were hiding in there!!! I don't remember any weird side effects because I only took it for one cycle. I might have been a little more emotional then normal.
Email me with any questions you may have. I would be happy to answer them.

We tried Clomid with IUIs. I don't recall any side effects. We didn't get pregnant with Clomid but I was still using the ovulation kits so we could have sex at the optimal time. Several months after the Clomid use, I got pregnant just by using the ovulation kits and timing the intercourse with that.

When you do have a child (and if you are desparate to be a mommy you'll find a way) you'll appreciate the child so much. I believe that infertility changes the way we parent.

Hi K.,

I had the same problem... not ovulating. My doc put me on Clomid (the lowest dosage (25mg.. which is half a tablet)). We both thought I should start with the lowest dosage possible because I wanted the least chance of having multiples. The first month, I got my period, which showed Clomid did get me to ovulate at that dosage. And the second month I got pregnant!! I now have a happy, healthy little boy. I'm a success story, and I hope you are too! My main recommendation if you are worried about multiples is to start with the lowest dosage possible.

I had great success using Acupunture both times I was trying to get pregnant. I can't prove it, and it may be coincidence, but I personally think it's worth a shot before taking a drug to do it. My doctor said I could try Clomid as well, but I was nervous to use it, so I tried Acupuncture first and didn't have to worry about making the choice.
It can't hurt and many insurances now cover the majority of the expense.
Just a thought...... :)

I used clomid back in 2001 and became pregnant the first time around with my second child. I had nothing but a good experience, no side effects at all. It was great, my doctor did an ultrasound while I was taking it and was able to tell me exactly when would be the best time for me to become pregnant. It pretty much happened the exact time he told me it would. I became pregnant with just one child. I was not on a very high dosage. I have had a few friends who had the same experience as I, some took two to three rounds before they became pregnant - all single pregnancies.

My OB suggested Clomid, but since it was around the holidays, suggested I wait until after Christmas because of the potential side effects. OK, I'm gonna be a Negative Nelly here. I had a very bad reation to Chlomid....moody, testy, quick to anger & slow to calm down. I took it for maybe 3-5 months w/no success. But, as another poster said, we all react differently to drugs. For the average OB/GYN, prescribing Chlmoid is about the extent of their abilities/limits. We tried for about 3.5 yrs before we had our first son via injectible infertility drugs & IUI. My older sister also struggled w/infertility issues but more intense than my PCOS. I could talk myself blue in the face here but will offer 2 suggestions: 1) get a referral to see a specialist in this field....an endocronologist, & 2)if a drug, any drug, does not work w/in 3 rounds of trying, chances are it's not gonna work so move onto another drug. Also, I haven't heard of many multiples while on Chlomid as it's a mild infertility drug but I suggest you still google it yourself for info & stats. Best of luck!

Hi K.,

I didn't personally take Clomid, but my sister did. I was working with her so I got to see her horrible mood swings. I would just go to try to talk to her about anything at all, and she would burst into tears over nothing. She said she felt like she could cry at any moment, but there was no reason why. She tried it for a few months, but couldn't stand the way it made her feel. After that and then several months of painful examinations and tests she couldn't afford, she decided to stop everything and let nature do its thing. She was pregnant a couple of months later. I think she was just so hell bent on trying to get pregnant right away that it stressed her out and prevented her from getting pregnant. After she relaxed a bit is when she got pregnant.

On the same note, when I was trying to get pregnant I was pretty stressed out at work for the first 2 months, and then the third month I wasn't, and that is when I got pregnant. Stress can be a powerful thing. Try to take the time to relax. I'm not saying you shouldn't try Clomid, I just wanted to fill you in on my sister's experience with it. Whatever you choose, Good Luck!!

Hi, I wanted to share some information that may help you with the challenge you face.

One of the challenges women today are facing in child bearing and overall estrogen health is the influx of toxins.

Please go to:

www.sharethecause.com/live

... and watch the 10 minute documentary. I think you will find if a wealth of information. It is the one thing that is not being addressed by the medical field as a whole.

You can also go to the Environmental Working Group website at www.ewg.org and look at the umbilical cord study and the human toxome project.. another short documentary.

What is happening is our endocrine systems are being baraged by toxins and heavy metals which take up healthy receptor sites and cause a whole group of female health challenges from endrometriosis to infertility to cancer.

One of the culprits is cadmium which mimics itself as estrogen and is found in second hand smoke, batteries, and added to a lot of other products. When we had the fires this past summer .. it was equivalent of smoking 100 cigarettes a day in Sacramento. This was proven by a study conducted in this area.

One of the ways the medical arena deals with these symptoms is medication. The issue is the cause and bringing resolution at the foundation of the body. If the foundation is not healed, other challenges just present themself later as life progresses.

If you would like additional information on the solutions available you can contact me via email on this site or the comments section at www.sharethecause.com.live

I used clomid for 6-8 months back in 2000 with no positive results. This was after spending 4 unsuccessful years attempting to have another baby and in the care of my Ob. It was a new OB/Gyn that prescribed clomid after running several tests. I don't recall ever having "mood" issues, but I did develop several clomidic cysts on one ovary. It appears these can be a common side effect. They are hollow cysts, which can rupture at any time. I was lucky in that they went away a few weeks after I quit taking the drug (I have 3 of them, 4-9 millimeters each).
If you are not in the care of a fertility specialist, make sure you consult with one BEFORE you begin taking any drugs. I trusted my OB/Gyn who claimed also to be a specialist. It was a second doctor I consulted with that took me off the drug and discovered that there were tests that needed to be done that had not been done. My previous doctor insisted I was not ovulating due to results of the tests he had run. He was wrong! It turns out I was ovulating and I never should have been put on clomid in the first place and he had put me on a really high dose (and yes, multiple births are possible). Fortunatley, I already had one son and two step sons (and now 5 grandchildren) because another pregnancy would have been near impossible to achieve and would have involved at least one major surgery with no promises of pregnancy afterwards.
Good luck!

Hi K. - I do not seen an update since your request - are you expected yet? I do not have personal experience with Clomid, but my sis did use it and had IVF and had a son who is a wonderful 16-year-old now! What a blessing. Here is some additional info you may not be aware of: I have been learning recently about how unsafe ingredients in personal care products made by major manufacturers in the US could be contributing to infertility because of unsafe ingredients that could cause infertility, as well as chronic disease. Please visit www.findgreenhere.com (safe cosmetics page, cosmetic database - insert the names of your personal care products including baby products, and/or key ingredients). After researching, you may find that you want to stop using anything on yourself unless it is all "clean and green and toxin-free". That potentially could help with fertility. V. G. :o)

Both of my children were conceived using Clomid. Although I had regular cycles, I wasn't ovulating each cycle, so it was taking us forever to get pregnant. All other test on my husband and myself turned out normal. So after almost 2 yrs of trying on our own, the first cycle I used Clomid I got pregnant with my daughter. I didn't have any side effects from it and had a totally normal and easy pregnancy. We tried to get pregnant the second time on our own again, but again didn't have any luck, so went to my doctor to get on Clomid. Unfortunately after 3 cycles, I got pregnant, but miscarried at 8 weeks. After another 4 cycles on Clomid I got pregnant my thrid time and had my son. I'm really grateful for Clomid because I have two wonderful children now. I know how frustrating it can be to be ready to have a baby and not be able to make it happen (like everyone else). Clomid is also so inexpensive in comparison to any other infertility drug, so it's a great place to start if you need assistance. My doctor put me on progesterone in addition to the Clomid when we were trying to get pregnant the second time. The progesterone was a lot more pricey the the Clomid and sort of yucky since it's a vaginal suppository. I wish you all the luck.

Hi K., I took Clomid for 2 or 3 months back in 02 and while I didn't have success on it (but I was already ovulating, my dr just used it to improve and control ovulation), I did have some side effects. I wasn't moody (according to DH!), but I did have hot flashes and night sweats from about day 3-10. It was not fun, but not unbearable.

I hope it's successful for you and you can use it without getting side effects!!

Good luck,

I have not tried this drug due to my "Oops" pregnancy. However I wanted to suggest researching the herb Vitex.(chaste Berry extract) It will get you to ovulate naturally. It is reccomended for women who have been on hormonal birth control to get their cycle back to normal. I am not a doctor or anything. I just like to go the natural route first, then western medical intervention. Good luck!

Hi K.! I did three rounds of clomid and did not get pregnant. However, I did have an endometrioma cyst on my ovary and did not know it. I took the clomid, estrogen and progesterone. I had some cramping during ovulation, probably from the cyst and headaches during the estrogen. I would definitely give the clomid a try. It sounds like a lot of women who have resoponded had success. I did end up getting pregnant without clomid three months after surgery to remove my cyst. I had actually started taking the clomid for two days when I found out I was pregnant. I have a healthy 9 month baby girl now! Good luck!

Hi K.,
I was not ovulating and my doctor put in on clomid. It did work, but it took several months for me. I also had a ovulation device that told me when I ovulated...highly recommend by the way. I didn't have any side affects and my daughter doesn't have any issues. No colic, no allergies, no add, no anything and she is now 2. I have a son of 8 months now and we didn't need any clomid for him. Just be prepared to have planned sex and you really have to try and not be stressed. Not being stressed about getting pregant was the key to success for us.

Hope this helps -C.

Hey K.-
I am currently taking Clomid, 2 pills days 5-9 of my cycle. This is our third and possibly last month, my Dr wants us to look into more agressive measures due to my age (41). I haven't really had any bad symptoms but I think some women do experience some sort of mood swings... Unfortunately I think mood swings are part of the whole package of trying to get pregnant ;-)
I also get a shot of HCG and an ultrasound & sonogram done each month when I'm ovulating. She also has me on progesterone and seeing an accupuncturist.
In my experience, this seemed like the next step in the process of hopefully getting preggers, and it doesn't really feel too invasive.
Hope this helps and I wish you only good luck on your journey!
M

I used Clomid with insemination. Now my case was that I everything was fine, but I still wasn't getting pregnant. We tried it twice, once taking one pill and the second month taking two pills. It didn't work for us...once we switched to another drug Femara...we got pregnant. And we only had one baby! Femara is typically used for cancer patients, but said they have had a lot of success with infertility...side effects of Clomid..don't think I had any...Good luck

I have a beautiful little boy.

We did 6 rounds of clomid and concieved on little boy. I would ovulate between one and three eggs off of clomid.

Side effects were not so bad. I seemed to increase the amount of my cycle but other than that I did not have a problem. My body did freak out on one cycle where things just seemed to go haywire. Nothing followed it perscribed cycle but the dr said that is abnormal on it and the next cycle it was back to normal.

A non medical side effect that did come up was the rise of the hope cycle and the crash of not being pregnant was a greater span and was much harder mentally for both my husband and I.

We are considering it again as we try for another little one.

Hope this helps. I am praying for you in this time as I know it can be stressfull.

Hi K.,
I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and needed clomid to jumpstart the ovulation process for me. For my first child it took 3 rounds of clomid, my second child it took 2 rounds, and I just recently gave birth to twins that took 1 round of clomid. Needless to say, it worked well for us! Just know that everybody is different. What took a short amount of time for me, may take a little longer for you. You never know. As exciting as the anticipation of pregnancy is, try and be patient! :-)
As for side effects, the only thing I noticed was painful cramping when I got my period on the months that I didn't conceive. More painful cramping than I usually had with a period. My doctor said it was a normal side effect.

Good luck & happy baby-making!
K.

Hi K.!
I did 4 cycles on Clomid without getting pregnant. I didn't like the way I felt on it; too moody and irritable, like super PMS....diificult when you're trying to get pregnant! I also read some scary things about it increasing your risk of ovarian and cervical cancers with prolonged use. Anyway, my diagnosis was a lot like yours, and I was so upset when the clomid didn't work. Then a year later, without any medical intervention, we got pregnant with our now 9 month old son! I would read as much as you can about it, talk with your hubby and doctor, then make the best decision for you. I'll keep you in my prayers! :)

Hi K.. I am 42 now and have three healthy, full-term kids all conceived with clomid - ages 11,9&4. So, I conceived 12 years ago. Baby #1, my daughter, took one dose, baby #2, year-and-a-half after #1, it took two doses (two months). Then baby #3, four years after #2 and me being 36 yrs, it took three doses, or three months of trying.

I did not experience any mood swings. I was the same ol me.

My girlfriend conceived on clomid about three years ago and now has happy, almost 3- year-old triplet girls.

Good luck!

Absolutely. My step sister used it and was pregnant within three months. But It doesn't work that fast for everyone. And A friend of mined had three to four periods a year for her it took 6-8 months so it definately works, I'm not sure if it works in every case. Good luck I hope you'll post in a couple of months asking about morning sickiness.

I took Clomid. My doctor recommended it because my cycle was really long, 37 days, and he thought that while I was ovulating, I was not releasing a good, mature egg. So I took it and was pregnant after one cycle. I did not experience any side effects. I only had one baby. I am currently trying for another. My cycle isn't as long now, so my doctor has told me to try 2 or 3 cycles on my own and if it doesn't happen if I want help to call him, which I will! I am on cycle 2, so we'll see. Good luck!

It is really important to remember that everyone is different and that everyone reacts differently to medications. I dealt with infertility for 5 years. I did clomid for over 6 months (too long now that I look back on it). It did not work for me, but that doesn't mean it won't for you. I personally didn't have too many side effects. I would maybe feel a bit bloated, but that was all. I ended up going through many fertility treatments and finally had twins through IVF. Then 2 years later...surprise....pregnant without even trying...I never believe people when they told me that.
I did find that I had to become my own best advocate when it came to my treatments. Do your research and don't be afraid to be assertive. Good luck!!! I know it is hard, but hang in there.

Sorry so short, I gotta run but wanted to post really quick. I got pregnant with 1 round of Clomid. I was having regular periods and ovulating, but my luteal phase was too short so the egg couldn't attach to the wall of my uterus. I got pregnant with one very healthy baby boy. I didn't have any side effects (but I was on a very low dose). Best of luck to you!!

Although I have not had success taking Clomid, I haven't had severe reactions to it either. I got a great tip from a pharmacist--take the pills at night before you go to sleep. Then the strongest side effects will be present while you're in dreamland. My first cycle I took the pills during the day and ended up getting car sick all the time, even while I was driving! After that, I took the pills at night and had no issues.

I did have one cycle with pain during ovulation, but it wasn't unbearable. The doctor just warned me to be sure not to take Advil for it as it would interfere with ovulation.

Good luck! I hope it works for you!
