Hello,

We're considering having the indoor air quality of our home tested for mold and any other issues. Has anyone used a mold testing service, and if so, around how much did it cost? I just heard back from one company that has quoted me a price of $625! Is that in the right ball park?

Thanks!
M.

Hi M.,

We had MAJOR mold damage in our home. We had IAQ Diagnostics out of Milwaukee, WI come out to perform various tests. They charged between $400-$500 for all tests and a written report. The person we spoke with was named Adam, and he was very professional and very thorough. If you want to give him a call even to just ask questions, their web site is:

Good luck!! Jennifer

Ronna is an RN who also sells quality air cleaners. Please take the time to call her or check out her website because she would be a great person to get more information from. She may sell a testing kit. Her number is ###-###-#### and the website is http://www.ellwingecoproducts.com.

Hi M., I bought a home test kit from a company called Air Oasis. It was easy to use, & very inexpensive, like $20-$25.00. It was little petrie dishes that you open & let sit out for 3 days in a place they won't be disturbed. I was very pleased with the home kit. I'm not sure if they still sell them but please research this company & give them a call before you part with that kind of money.. Are you super concerned about your homes air quality? I was only slightly concerned & my bad "spores" showed up downstairs just outside my utility room.. Easy fix. Good luck!

We just had an offer on a house accepted and looked into mold testing. We opted not to do it but from what we learned, the inspectors will choose certain parts of the home and test between 6-12 different spots. Each spot costs around $100. For the home we are buying, we were told it would be between $600-800 since they would test 6-8 spots.
They would even suck 15 meters of air out of the wall for air quality testing.

If you the least bit worried there might be a high amount of mold in your house, or if anyone is highly allergic to mold, I would just do it so you have peace of mind.
