Has Anyone Had Their Levels Drop in Early Pregnancy and Had a Healthy Baby?

I just got a call from my doctor's office that my HCG and progesterone levels have dropped. I should be 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow. They are going to put me on progesterone and check my blood again tomorrow. I'm not very hopeful. I just went through miscarriages in August and December, so my heart is broken. Has anyone had this happen and gone on to have a healthy baby? I need some reassurance if any is out there.

What can I do next?

Hi R., I'm currently 29wks along and at first my progesterone was lower than they liked so I was put on supplements until I was 16wks along (mine was a 15 and my OB prefers it to be 17 or more). The HCG is another story. It should at least double every 24-48 hrs. The next reading will give you a better idea if the pregnancy is in trouble.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you go on to have a healthy & happy 9months.

When I found out my levels were low and I was spotting at 7 weeks in my third pregnancy, after two miscarriages, I was heartbroken. My doctors gave me progesterone supplements and put me on restricted activity for the first trimester (work & home, nothing else).
My son just celebrated his 7th birthday recently - so everything turned out just fine!

Hang in there, do what your doctor says, and take care of yourself. :)

R., my levels were extremely low all 3 times I was pregnant. I was told that it was too low to support a pregnancy and that "by this time in a pregnancy my numbers should be such and such" but they prescribed progesterone anyways. Today I have a 5, 4 & 2 year old. Keep your hopes up, the progesterone can help a whole lot.

My good friend just went through this. Her levels picked back up with the progesterone, and her baby is due in May. So far the baby is healthy and growing on schedule. She also had two miscarriages prior to this.

Yes, my levels dropped and werent doubling like they were suppose to and I even started spotting but my doctor put me on prometrium (progesterone supplement) and restricted activity and my little girl was born Christmas Day! I to was very scared b/c I had two miscarriages in 2007 one in March and one in October. Good luck!

I have to be honest even though you may not want to hear this. When my levels dropped I was miscarrying BUT the difference in you and me is that when my levels dropped, I had already started bleeding. I've never had levels drop in my healthy pregnancies so I wouldn't know if it's possible to keep carrying the baby if the levels are dropping. I just know those numbers say a lot but I hope everything works out for you and that someone else may have some more reassuring words.
Good luck, keep us updated and take care!!

If they are low there are ways to raise it. I lost my first and third pregnancies. I now have three children for I was able to carry my babies with progesterone prescriptions. I did progesterone suppositories. There are natural creams but the ones you buy in the stores are more water down. I would go to a health store or ask my doctor for a rx.
