Has Anyone Heard of or Used Monavie Acai Berry Juice?

My sister in California sent me two bottles of this juice that is supposed to have antioxidants and vitamins in it. I tried it yesterday and it gave me so much energy but didn't make me jittery or anything. I did about 6 loads of laundry (still folding laundry at 9:30 at night), walked the two dogs one at a time last night, and was still able to fall asleep easily. Just wondered if anyone has heard of this acai berry and whether or not it has side effects or anything. All I know is that I love the energy it gives me!

What can I do next?

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST. From the heart of the Amazon Rainforest comes the acai berry. Known for its fertile soil, the rainforest is not an easy place to thrive. With biannual flooding and maximum ultraviolet exposure from the sun, the acai berry is constantly subjected to oxidative stress. Fortunately, nature often provides its own remedy–through adversity, this superfruit has gained life-sustaining nutrient properties. For countless centuries, the people of the Amazon have revered this unique fruit for its health-promoting properties, used it in the treatment of numerous ailments, and prized it as a source of health and vitality.

Thanks in part to MonaVie, modern science has validated the remarkable benefits of the acai berry, bringing it beyond the borders of Amazonia and into the limelight of the world, even dubbing it a superfood. Featuring a nutritional profile second to none, acai is packed with goodness–antioxidants, phyto-nutrients, vitamins, and minerals, healthy fats, and plant sterols. This delicious goodness has been remarkable captured in MonaVie's premier acai formulas.

I have tried raspberry acai juice and it was wonderful. I've heard the acai berry is the new "pomegranite". Full of antioxidants. I think Dr. Oz on Oprah brought a lot of attention to it the last time he was on. I'm glad it makes you feel great. Maybe I'll buy it more often.

I have heard of it. I have a friend who is a distributor. I have not personally tried it but that's because I found out how expensive it is so I didn't want to like it! I am not knocking it by any means but it was just more than I could afford with the quantity I would have to buy! Glad to hear you found something great! I have not heard anything from her about side effects.
Awesome for you that it made you feel so energetic! They say exercise does that...I have still not felt that! ;) Have a great weekend!

Monavie does not have much acai..or at least they don't list the amount since it's a propietary blend. I just buy acai in caplet form and am getting 100% acai...I've lost a lot of weight and feel wonderful!! I use Perfect Acai from www.powersupplements.com. I researched the best form of acai to use, and this is one of them. Read below..i pasted it from the website...read all the way through..lots of good info. Good Luck!!

Are All Acai Supplements Created Equal?

In our last article we learned the good news - Acai can be freeze dried into a powder that retains all the nutrients of fresh Acai. That powder can then be put into capsules to give you a convenient freeze dried superfood in a capsule. Does that mean that all the Acai supplements on the market are equal? Of course not - nothing is ever that easy. Let's learn why…

Freeze Dried Acai - simply the best
There are cheaper ways to make Acai powder. There are quicker and easier ways to make Acai powder. However, the best way to make Acai powder is to freeze dry. The freeze dried process which Sambazon uses is low heat, introduces no carry agents and retains all the nutrients of the Acai berry.

As we stated in the last article, 1 grams of Sambazon freeze dried power is equal to about 7 grams of fresh Acai berry. 100 grams of fresh Acai has an impressive antioxidant rating of 5,500 ORAC score but 100 grams of freeze dried Sambazon Acai powder has an amazing ORAC score of over 50,000!

What about Spray Dried Acai supplements?
There is a much cheaper way to process Acai and make Acai supplements - it is called spray dried Acai. The Spray Dried process involves heating the Acai to high temperatures to remove the water and spraying the Acai with carries such as maltodextrin.

To put it bluntly - spray dried Acai is a terrible idea!

The first problem with the spray dried process is that it requires heating the Acai to very high temperatures. The problem is that the high temperatures kill off many of the nutrients in the Acai. The second problem is that the spray dried process involves using a carrier agents such as maltodextrin to dry the Acai. In the end, 40% of the "Acai powder" is actually maltodextrin. So, if you see a spray dried Acai supplement that claims to have 500mg of Acai per capsule - it probably only has 300mg of actual Acai per capsule.

Spray dried Acai powders, while cheap to buy, are vastly inferior to freeze dried Acai powders.

Can I just look for Maltodextrin on the label of Acai products?
You can look - but you will never find it! Since Maltodextrin is added during the manufacturing process, it technically does not need to be listed as an ingredient on the label. It is just a loophole in the FDA labeling laws, but since Maltodextrin is a product of the manufacturing process and not an "added ingredient" - it does NOT need to be listed on the label.

If a Acai supplement does not say "Freeze Dried Acai" on the label - we would not recommend it.

What about Acai Extracts - like 4:1 Acai Extract?
With herbal supplements, extracts involve isolating one element of the plant and extracting it. For example, with the coffee bean plant you may want to create a caffeine extract. This would involve isolating the caffeine in the coffee berry and extracting.

When it comes to Acai - extracts make no sense. The health value of the Acai berry comes from the whole fruit. As we discussed in the Nutritional Value of Acai article, there are many positive nutrients in the Acai berry. So, what exactly do you want to extract from the Acai berry? In truth, you want the whole Acai berry - not just an extract.

The other issue with extracts is that almost all are made from spray dried Acai. The only thing worse than spray dried Acai is an extract of spray dried Acai. It should then come as no surprise that the ORAC value of Freeze Dried Sambazon Acai has tested 50 times as high as that of spray dried Acai extracts.

Don't let phrases like "4:1" and "super concentrated extract" fool you. You want all the nutrients of the whole Acai berry, and you can only get this in freeze dried Acai powder.

When does an extract equal a concentrate?
Extracts and concentrates SHOULD be two different things, but in the world of supplements the two terms are sometimes mistakenly interchanged. Some Acai companies say that their 4:1 Extract means that 4 grams of Acai pulp are used to make 1 gram of Acai powder. The correct term for this would be a concentrate - not extract.

Even assuming that a company that advertises Acai 4:1 Extract means Acai 4:1 Concentrate - this is still not very impressive. Perfect Acai™, the brand we recommend uses a 7 to 1 concentrate of Acai pulp to powder. Gram per gram, 50% more Acai is used to make Perfect Acai™ than 4:1 Acai powders.

When does Acai lose 90% of its Nutritional Content?
When a company uses the Acai Seed in their Acai product!

The Acai berry is 90% seed, with only 10% of the berry edible. In the Amazon Rainforest, they eat the skin and pulp of the Acai berry and discard the seed. All the research and nutritional information we discuss is based on just the Acai berry skin and pulp. When you hear Dr. Perricone, Dr. Oz and every other expert discuss the amazing nutritional profile of the Acai berry - they are talking about just the skin and pulp.

Companies that make legitimate Acai products use only the Acai skin and pulp (of course the Perfect Acai uses only the skin and pulp). These companies have come up with creative uses for the Acai seed - they make Acai necklaces and even burn the seeds as a renewable energy source. The one thing that no legitimate Acai supplier would ever do is crush the Acai seeds and sell them as juice or supplement.

Unfortunately, it has come to our attention that a number of companies are selling Acai products that contain the Acai seed. These products therefore contain 90% less Acai (as defined by the edible portion) than Acai products that use only the skin and pulp. An Acai juice that has 30 grams of Acai, BUT uses the whole berry (including seed) - by definition would only have 3 grams of Acai pulp and skin.

Consumers that ingest Acai seed products are consuming a product that has been the subject of very little research and in no way reflects how the indigenous people of the Amazon Rainforest have enjoyed Acai for thousands of years.

Our recommendation - steer clear of any product that is made with the Acai seed!

Does it matter which company makes the Acai powder?
Yes, yes and YES! As we have discussed, Acai is highly perishable, so you want to make sure the company making the Acai powder is using fresh Acai berries. After all, the best freeze drying techniques really don't mean much if you start with spoiled Acai berries! You also want a company with strong relations with the indigenous people of the Amazon who will be picking the Acai berries.

When it comes to pure Acai, one company stands head and shoulders above all others - Sambazon. In our next article we will discuss why Sambazon is the world leader in quality Acai.

Recap:
It is clear that not all Acai supplements are created equal. The highest quality Acai supplements will be made with Sambazon freeze dried acai. Spray dried and "extract" Acai supplements should be avoided at all costs.

What makes Sambazon the world leader in quality Acai? We take a look at this in our next article…

My husband was going to sell it. It is expensive. We had one bottle sent to the house a month and it was $40 out of our account. I guess it is cheaper per bottle if you have more sent. He took it for a while but then just quit. The effects were not as great over time for him. We were getting stacked up with these bottles because he wasn't taking them or selling them but they were coming once a month. So I traded them to a lady whose daughter was going through kemo radiation because she said her daughter had little side effects when she took the monivie. He has since cancelled his but I have three bottles left. I can sell for way cheap or trade (kids clothes ect) like I had before. If you google monivie there are some reviews. I think it is just different for everyone.

The Acai berry is very safe and is Monavie. It is a great anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory for the body. It's been around for some time now and the way people market it is to send someone who they think could use it a bottle or two. Then you like it so much you purchase it. It is not inexpensive, but is not overly priced. It is a good and healthy product. I take it.

Hi L.,

Drink up! My family has been drinking Monavie for over a year now and it really is an incredible product. It has the highest levels of antioxidants and phytonutrients that there is available on the market today!!! You can not find a better all natural product.

I am a strong believer in all natural health and wellness. I do not take medications or any over the counter drugs because I understand that the body is made to heal itself if it is given the right nutrition and this product is the perfect fit.

Besides being a mom of 3, I am a massage therapist, and I highly recommend this product to absolutely every person that walks through my door.

My family has personally experienced some incredible health benefits: Great sleep, more energy, NO MORE allergy and asthma, relief from joint pain, better periods, no headaches and much much more. I could go on and on about the different health benefits because it honestly does something different for everyone. It all depends on what your body is needing and where you may be nutrient deprived.....

It is not an illegal pyramid. It is sold through direct selling which is the very BEST way to share a product. It is very similar to Avon or MaryKay - but our compensation plan is made to richly reward the people who are referring it.

This truly is the highest quality product out there and everybottle has a story. I researched Monavie (the company) for months before I tried it and I was, and still am, very impressed with everything about the product and the company.

It is the fastest growing Multilevel marketing company out there and the reason for that is that it is a product that everyone needs.

If you would like more information, please check out my site and give me a call. www.mymonavie.com/ajscoggin

Cheers to your health!!!

I have. Did it come in a wine bottle type bottle? If it's the same stuff...the name sounds so familiar, I have a friend who is able to sell it here. She got some from another friend and it's also known for "helping" some people who are sick. My friend had cancer and was on a ton of meds and even Kemo.....after drinking this juice for some time she'd completely off all her meds (mostly anti-depressents and stuf like that), but she's also feeling wonderful. Thre were some other stories of people who had conditions that by drinking this juice helped witha variety of things.

I haven't heard of that, but I use Vemma, which is a liguid vitamin supplement that also makes an energy drink that is packed with vitamins without the crash after the energy boost. Vemma is 2oz a day. I have much more energy, my anxiety is less and I have been in a much more relaxed mood. I also sleep better (when I get to with young kids!). Many family members with different health challenges (diabetes, acid reflux, arthritis, prostrate cancer, etc) have been taking Vemma and some have been able to stop their medication or at least reduce it. Vemma is (Vitamin, Essential minerals ,Mangosteen fruit, Aloe Vera).

Does your juice have a website, I would like to check it out.

Mine is www.myvemma.com/jherrera if you would like to look at Vemma. I always like to compare Vemma with other products to see how they compare.

Monavie is set up as a marketing "pyramid" of sorts...though not exactly a pyramid, because that would not be legal. You buy the juice and then sign people up "under" you (in "legs") to buy it and so on. You build up enough people in your legs and then more legs are created, generating income for you. It is similar to the way Amway is done. On the bright side, it is a great juice mix at a very expensive price in a very pretty wine bottle. The reason it helps with Joint Pain is there is Glucosamine in it. The energy level and sleeping better are all part of the claimed results(some people notice a change and other don't). It is a very tasty juice, though it has a bit of a tart tang to the aftertaste. There is a natural energy in it from one of the fruits mixed with the acai, though there is nothing studied and proven clinically. If you are good at sharing the info with all people on a sales basis, it could be a great income generator over time. All that said, we found it to be too expensive to be worth it. $40 for a wine bottle full of energy juice that will only last one person a week... yikes on that price. My husband felt it helped his knees, but he can take Glucosamine over the counter at a cheaper price and drink pure Grape juice for his antioxidants!

Mona Vie is an expensive way to get the nutrients found in traditional and much less expensive juices like orange, grape, and apple.
The Acai is imported from South America, which is a dumping ground for pesticides (DDT is legal there). Mona Vie is not certified organic, so I would be very cautious with your health & wallet.
While the Mona Vie is purported to provide many nutrients, there are no amounts listed. The only published measure of benefit is the product's ORAC value, which we've seen at various distributor websites at between just over 1,000 to just over 1,100. About 5 ounces of ordinary orange juice or 5 ounces of red grapes would provide roughly the same ORAC value. For comparison, a single serving of Shaklee's FlavoMax has an ORAC value of 5,508.
It's not a secret, as you can see from my profile, that I promote Shaklee products. Shaklee dietary supplement formulations are based on published, peer-reviewed data supporting their efficacy, safety and actual benefit to the consumer by providing guaranteed amounts of health supporting nutrients.
I considered trying Mona Vie from my aunt, until I did more research on my own.
Seek the science when searching for answers. Just because people say things, doesn't make them true.
