Has Anyone Tried Relacore?

I've lost 30 pounds and am near my wedding weight after 2 kids - yippee! The wedding weight was a good weight for me, not at all heavy but not super skinny either. BUT, I still look like I have a belly. I do sit ups religiously and am starting to think it's a stomach fat issue or that my skin is done for from having it stretched out with 2 babies. So I've started thinking about using Relacore. Has anyone out there tried it? Did it work? Would you recommend it? Thanks!

I tried relacore a few years ago, not for weightloss but for the cortisol reduction, stress etc. It did nothing for me. I wouldn't recommend it. It is possible to do situps incorrectly and caued distended muscles. DO you do any kind of cardio? It goes hand in hand with any isolation exercises to help reduce.

They just found Alli is causing liver damage...I can only imagine what Relacore is doing to people's bodies. The reason for your belly is that your rectus abdominis (aka the 6 pack abs) is separated, this is called a diastis recti...seeing a physical therapist is one way to see if you have this, however, you can test it yourself:

Lie on your back like you are about to do a crunch, feet on floor. Proceed to curl up into a crunch position. Starting from belly button, take two fingers and poke into your stomach, if you feel a valley so to speak it is separated. Doing 1000 crunches per day will not help b/c your abs are not together. This happens to about 2 out of 3 women...can cause low back pain, stress and/or urinary incontinence...doc should check for this in postpartum check-up...most don't. Again, go see a PT, specifically a pelvic floor PT that specializes in core and pelvic floor issues.

Good Luck,

I've tried it twice (the second time years after the first and because I had forgotten that it didn't do a thing). It didn't do a thing the second time around either. I've tried other OTC's and nothing really helped. What seems to help is eating a lot of fiber and drinking water. That helped my "pooch" get a little flatter as it cleansed me. Get some sit-ups in as well and make them count. If you keep doing the same thing, you won't see great results. You have to shock your system a bit. Add weight to your chest to increase the difficulty, change positioning. These things will help from the inside.

Good Luck.

It is great that you worked hard and got your wedding body back. You have 2 babies, please don't spend money on what will end up doing nothing for you and possibly take your liver or kidneys. You don't want to one day ask your girls for one of theirs because you wanted a quick fix. Show your girls that healthy eating and exercise are the way to be as fit as you can. Give them a healthy body image. It may take more time as your body has within the last 4 years done some amazing things. I was always told take the number of children you had and multiply by 3 and that will be the number of years it will take to get as close as you can to your old body and be healthy about it. Any pill OTC or prescription has to be "worked" out of your system and causes damage as it does so. Don't waste the money.

Hi M.,

As a pre/postnatal personal trainer that specializes in the stomach muscles post birth, I will tell you that SIT UPS are the absolute WORST thing you can be doing for your body. 98% of postpartum women have split stomach muscles (called a diastasis) and sit ups actually INCREASE the split in the stomach muscles making your diastasis LARGER and worsening the appearance of your abs. We call this the "mommy tummy."

There are some GREAT things you can do for your abs - great exercises that will close the gap and correct your diastasis. I see women all the time that have been told by surgeons that the only way that can correct their stomach postpartum is by surgery. I have worked with some women in this situation that have brought their muscles totally back together in EIGHT weeks.

Even my women who are exercise fanatics come to me and can't understand why their stomachs just don't look right. They all have diastisis; those stomach muscles DO NOT come back together on their own.

A great book is "Lose your mummy tummy" - its on Amazon. Also there are DVDs that go along with it. I am the only one certified in the state to train with this technique. I teach classes in Oswego and Orland Park currently and i train individually as well. PLEASE feel free to contact me with any questions. My email is ____@____.com information I just gave you is HARD information to find! Good luck!!!

I don't recommend any OTC weight loss gimmick because they're basically all garbage. They prey on people who want to quickly lose the weight or 'spot-train' and lose the weight in one area. It is physiologically impossible to spot-reduce fat in one area.

You can do situps until the cows come home but if your nutrition isn't clean and healthy and you're not doing cardio, then you will continue to have super-awesome abs with a layer of fat over top of them.

Save your money, skip the Relacore, and instead focus on adding 30-60 minutes of cardio daily (if not doing so already) and eating a healthy, sensible meal plan that is full of clean/organic eats and void of processed junk foods.

The belly won't go away with sit ups, it will only go away by burning off the fat, i.e. cardio.

I walk, a lot, and that tends to take off my stomach.

The other day on the show The Doctors the Plastic Surgeon talked about what you can do for a poochy belly after baby. He addressed over the counter pills and creams. He said there is not you can do but exercise and a tummy tuck, if exercise does not work. He address there is no miracles out there and some women can only solve the stomach problem with a tummy tuck. You may be able to view his clip on their website.
Have you considered talking to a fitness trainer? Sit Ups along usually do not get your stomach flat. It takes resistance work with weights to build those muscles back up. Just an idea.
