Hi

I'm wondering if there are any of you guys that have used a Doula for their delivery?
I' thinking of hiring one but I don't want to spend thousands so I'm wondering if you guys know any good ones that are not going to cost me a fortune.

Thanks

What can I do next?

M.,

I never used a Doula with either of my girls but certainly wished I had. I was not aware that they even existed with my first L&D and didn't think I needed one with my second because I had my husband there as coach. I still wish I had one, though.

I do know of one and knowing the kind of person she is I can imagine she would be a wonderful Doula. I'm not sure how much she charges but here's here is her contact information:

M.,

I used a doula with my first delivery and loved her! Her name was Crystal, and I'm sorry to say I don't remember her last name or any contact information. She was in the process of moving to a new home and had just gotten pregnant herself during my time with her. She was wonderful - such a great support to my husband and me, and she wrote the sweetest story about the labor and delivery, for us to share with my daughter later in life. I highly recommend hiring a doula. Interview several to find the best match for you. Best of luck!

Hi, there!
I am a doula (Hi, Cathy!) and my website is http://www.cherishbirth.com and my fee is not thousands. LOL!

Speaking not as a doula myself, but as a mother who has given birth to three children and did not have a doula everytime- when I did, it made a tremendous difference for me. How much she helped me, went into my decision to become a doula and provide that for others.

There are a lot of great doulas in the Dallas area, so you should definitely be able to find someone with whom you "click". Good luck!

I hope you get some good responses because I am also looking for a recommendation for a doula. I have looked around some and it seems like their rates are usually around $500-$750, so you shouldn't have to spend thousands.

Here are 2 websites I've found if you'd like to check them out, I can't vouch for them personally though. I'm planning to ask my doctor if she has any recommendations too, so you might want to do that also.
