So What Happened?

Update. I was in the ER on saturday night. I am doing ok.. They did i ultrasound and said everything is ok. My left ovary looked a little twisted they said. But they said it will be ok. I finally started this morning. Let me tell you. I think this is gonna be the worse period i have ever had. Considering it took me forever to get my boys ready for school this morning due to the cramps that were making me puke they hurt so bad. Well thank you for everyone that responded. I needed some opions. Looks like this is a great place to get those. Ill let you mothers know on any other updates thank you..

Hi C.,
If you start having any shoulder pain, cramping in your side (and it will probably be worse than any normal cramps that you have ever experienced), nauseated...then go to the ER (don't just pass it off as being cramps...better to be safe) because it could be ectopic. If those things don't happen then your body could just be resetting itself. It seems to happen and i know...totally weird. Since you're only 28 I doubt it's perimenopause or early menopause but there is always a chance. And make sure you don't miss your next pap and pelvic exam to be sure nothing is going on.
Good luck.

if your truely worried go and have a blood pregnacy test done. they can dectect it sooner if your pregnant. you can do that with just a nurse and don't need a dr appt.

when i had my tubal pregnancy 7 years ago i had no problems or pain until i was about a month along. then i had spotting and a light flow and many many clots and horrible cramping. that went on for a week or so finally it got so bad i went to the dr and they did a vaginal ultrasound and they told me i was miscarrying. two days later the pain was unbearable and i went to the er and they did another vaginal ultrasound and found it was a tubal pregnancy and had to have emergancy surgery. they figured by the size i was 6 weeks along. being your 3 weeks late and worried i would get the blood test done. if nothing else its a piece of mind thing for a small price. i have not had my tubes tied so i don't know how possible it is to happen. but a friend of mine is from her mom's tubes coming unclamped and she was the result. so its possible for things to happen. good luck.

Your OB would deal with any period issues so I say give her/him a call in another week if your period doesn't show just to go in check to see if there is anything else wrong. Missing a period can be a sign of many things beside pregnancy. As for etopic pregnancy, if your OB isn't worried I'd say just monitor, ANY sign of stomach cramps, stomach pain, bloating, tenderness, get in to the DR IMMEDIATELY. I dont know your age but could it be premenopause? Some women start in their 30's and it starts by missing a period every now and then, stretching more and more time between them. Hope everything turns out ok, sorry if I wasn't a lot of help.

I also had my tubes tied right after my son was born in '01. My period was never so messed up and irregular before I had that done. I found out last winter that I have endometriosis and uterine cysts. I'm not sure if that is what is causing your issues, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Also, I think the OB doctors dont take it very seriously if you are late or miss if your tubes are tied - that's the impression I've gotten anyway. I have skipped months all together and been weeks late w/out an apparent reason. Just hang in there and try not to worry too much.

Hi C.,

The odds that you are pregnant are very, very slim--ectopic or otherwise. It's possible, but highly unlikely. With an ectopic pregnancy, you would experience pain. If you have any pain that is unusual or more than you would experience with normal menstrual cramps, call your doctor immediately.

You don't mention your age, but as a woman ages, her cycle can "reset" itself along the way. Try not to worry. If it goes on for 2 months, you might want to go in for a blood test to ease your mind. Good luck to you.

You did the right thing by calling your OB. 3 weeks is an awful lot of time and I can understand why you are worried. I've never experienced an ectopic pregnancy, but I have heard that it's painful... cramps. So I agree with the post that said to pay attention to any kind of abdominal pain.
You say that even though you do get stressed out you're never late... maybe now you are? Any recent changes in your life? Sudden weight loss/gain? That could also affect your period.
Did you bring up the ectopic pregnancy concern when you called your OB? If not, then you should call back and specifically tell them you are afraid of that. And they could tell you exactly what symptoms to expect with one.
Good luck!
