Your question appears to need only yes or no answer. Is this post a test to see how we'd answer?

You didn't say anything that would cause us to chew you out. My first thought was to wonder why you asked the question. I might have guessed at why and given more of an answer than yes or no. Because of a recent post where the person asking the question did chew us out for giving more information than she wanted, I'm suspicious of your post.

Yes, my now adult daughter did ask to be tested as a teen and my now teen granddaughter has not asked to be tested for dyslexia.

No, but if she did I would certainly take her seriously and go get her tested.

As for your chewing out comment, what's the point of saying something like that unless you are trying to stir things up?

Why would you get chewed out?

I don't have teens, but my 8 year did ask for glasses. We talked to the eye doctor who did an exam. Yep, needed glasses.

If your teen is asking, I would absolutely have them tested. Maybe they do have dyslexia. Maybe not. Maybe something else is going on. Whatever it is, you need to know.

If you're not sure who to take them to, ask yout pediatrician or the schools guidance counselor. Definitely ask for help. Your teen deserves it.

ETA - Veruca, what are you talking about?

No but go ahead and have him/her tested. No need to chew you out. :)

No they haven't. If one did I'd make the appointment. They'd have a reason for asking and there is no downside to being evaluated. Even if it isn't dyslexia there is apparently a problem of some sort to be discovered.

Why would someone get peeved that you asked this question?
