Do you live near a Cracker Barrel? I guess they have adorable new dolls that are similar to American Dolls but soft. My girlfriend just got one for her daughter and it is so cute.
I'm on a quest to find a really cute doll. It's for my 4 year old. I've been looking but man are some of them ugly. I saw one today that I swear looked like a old man. It was scary.
So where are the cute ones? I remember loving my cabbage patch and my child dolls as a child. Sure you can buy a cabbage patch doll but it's going to cost you $50. Really?!? for a kids doll. I want one that I'll feel like I can let her play with and if it gets loved to death that's ok. Any suggestions? Preferably $40 or less. Cute, cuddly, and lovable.
I think i'm going to be going with a cabbage patch doll. I always wanted one as a child. All my aunts and mom got together and made me one. Its really cute. I still have it. So since i'm not a sewer I think I'll pick the cutest one at the store. I'm sure she'll love it. I have the cloths my family made for my doll. I think I'll wash them and give them to her. Maybe I'll make her something cute to keep all her doll cloths in. I have my mothers barbie doll and ken doll she gave me when I was little. They are now antiques. Cool thing about her barbie doll is I have the cloths my great grandmother made for them. Priceless! Someday I'll give them to her. I think I'll wait till she gets a bit older so that she'll appreciate the idea behind them.

I also like the Little Mommy Dolls. My daughter has had hers for 2 years and loves it. She named it Baby Claire. I think it only cost about $20. She has a soft body and plastic legs, arms & head. My daughter even wraps her up and sleeps with her.
Maybe that's why they started making Ugly Dolls? LOL
The Stella baby dolls are super cute - they are around $30-40 bucks, but very cute.
I know! A lot of them look a little creepy to me. I agree with Megan about the Baby Alive doll! Now my daughter wants the Liv Spa Dolls. They are downright bug-eyed and weird looking to me!
I'm sorry I don't know the brand of the baby doll, but my daughter has a really cute one that sucks a pacifier and cries if you take it out. She shows contentment when you put the paci in, she sighs and coos. I remember paying $19.99 for it but I don't remember the brand and of course we don't have the box or even the clothes she came in!
I've always been a fan of the little mommy dolls by fisher price. They are not too expensive either, around $20. They even clothing sets you can buy for them, to change their outfits.
Here is an example:
Target has some cabbage patch dolls for under $30. They are so cute, I especially love the $10 ones that are dressed up like little animals we have one for our baby and she LOVES it. My almost 3 year old we bought a "suprise" cabbage patch dolls at toys r us this summer for I like $20. That thing has been put through the ringer and it is still holding up nicely.
Target has quite a few cute ones out now. I hate the moving, crying, ones they scare me. Thankfully my oldest is terrified of them too, so we don't have to worry about them in our house. :)
Don't even get me started on lalaloopy (sp?) dolls. CREEPY!
The "Land of Nod" has dolls.

Home made looking dolls and toys.
Cute
They are a little pricier... but they have nice products.
Check out Target they have dolls that are like the American Girl dolls. I think they are called made like me or just plain me dolls. I just got a couple really nice ones off of craigslist, I had seen them at Target and was waiting to see if they would be on sale for black friday.
I know what you mean, most dolls are not only ugly, but they actually kind of scare me. I went online to toysrus.com & saw this one which is kind of cute I think: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4465032. Best of luck in your quest!
I think most of the cute, soft dolls we have we got at WalMart. They have a big selection of soft dolls. I also bought one there that's decidedly ugly, but it's lifesize...wears between 6-12m clothes, a size 3 shoe, and is as big as about a one year old. My 18 month old LOVES this doll, because we can change it's clothes (think, clearance clothes sales, and we stock up) and shoes and to her, it's like a real baby.
Have you looked online for Cabbage Patch Kids? You can get one for $40 or under, easily.
We've gotten my 2 year old daughter a couple Circo brand ones at Target

There's a little bit bigger one that looks like the Bathtub doll in the link that she has also. It's a bath set too but without a tub. I can't find a link for it though.
I agree, far too many dolls just look creepy! Add to it that I hate dolls that do all sorts of junk and make a ton of annoying sounds and stuff too. These are some of the better looking ones we've seen and the best thing is they do nothing at all.
My daughter loves them to bits and takes them all over the place. I especailly like the small ones because I can throw them with a couple accessories into a bag and take them with for her to play with.
Another option if she likes DIsney is the Disney Animators Collection dolls. Santa may be bringing a couple this year if he can decide which to choose

I TOTALLY agree with you. They're not only ugly, they're creepy with scary clown like faces. Yuck!
The American Girl dolls are cute, but super expensive. Now that my wonderful MIL showed my daughter the catalog, of course she wants one. So the MIL told my daughter, "well maybe Santa can bring one to you." Yeah, Santa in the form of Grammie can bring it!
Good luck!
I agree. I actually was looking for a doll for my 3 yr old daughter. She is starting to get into the princesses and I found the Disney Princess Toddler Doll found here:
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4130551
You can get them for all the princesses either at Toys R US, Walmart, Amazon, etc. They are cute and loveable, I don't know how soft or cuddly they are but they are better than some of the stuff out there and they are only $20 if you get just the doll.
Corolle dolls are the best!!! Forget about Cabbage Patch dolls. I really find it hard to believe that no one has recommended these dolls. They are sweet, well made and you can buy all kinds of outfits and accessories for them. My daughter received her Corolle doll when she was 9 months old and still plays with it ... she is almost 5.
This is the one we have:

Update your post if you ever find one! It's ridiculous! I'm looking for a doll too, and have been for a while, but I can't seem to find ANYTHING. Even the baby alive dolls look a little creepy..
