hi,
my baby is already 10months old and i still havent had my period since. Im still breastfeeding her. I just wanna know if this is normal or not. My husband is a nurse and he told me that its normal since im breastfeeding her. they told him that it has something to do with my hormones. is it true? or do i need to set an appointment already to my OBGYN. is this something i need to worry about?
thanks
Thank you for a very helpful informAtion. Now i can relax and save myselt a trip to yhe doctor. God bless u all.

Relax. You're fine. It's perfectly normal. Consider it as one of the lovely perks of breastfeeding! You can still get pregnant, so use contraception unless you want another baby.
My daughter is 10 months old, I'm breastfeeding, and I still haven't started my period. I'm not the least bit worried...I'm enjoying every minute of it.
My son is 25m and I still haven't had a period either. You are w/in 'normal' range till 6m after you've completely weaned. Keep up the great job bf and enjoy your 'time off'.
I got mine the first time with my first son at 6 months but it was super light and only once. It only really came in at 9 or 10 months, after he stopped breastfeeding.
Consider yourself lucky... mine came back 3 weeks after delivery and I have always breastfed, still am! But, yes, it is normal to not have a period...
Hi J.! After I had my first child, I breastfed for 4 months, and still did not have a period even after I stopped breastfeeding. I agree with your hubby about the hormones thing because even though I had stopped the gland that produces milk was still quite high (according to my blood work) I did start to see my family practice doctor after a period of time of not having my period. I was just about to go to a specialist about it and then I got pregnant...even without having a period! But, I have heard while you are breastfeeding that it is quite common not to have your period, but go to the doc if you have concerns...and be careful if you don't want to get pregnant again (just from my experience :)
totally normal....could you be pregnant?
Hi J.,
I didn't start my period until my son was almost 2! Every
lady is different...I breast fed until he was 17 months, and then it still took a while. I wouldn't worry.

Count yourself lucky. i had the opposite problem. 26 days later I got my period and it's been steady since even though I breastfeeding. Most mommies I know who are breastfeeding went well over a year with no period, some even longer. Take care!
YES!! Me too! We are the lucky ones! My 7 month old is nursed exclusively and no period! My last son nursed for 9 months and it took 3 more months after weaning him for my 1st period! Hurray! If you're concerned about pregnancy I would say take a test, otherwise, just enjoy it while it lasts! (I am!) My sister was a bit dissapointed that she had her first period after only 4 months even though she was exclusively nursing for a whole year... different for everyone...
Yes, it is normal. Your husband is correct. No need to worry.
Totally... happened to me. Didn't get it back until I weaned after about a year.
Totally normal! I have two boys and nursed both for 15 months each. A couple months after I stopped nursing (17 months later) my period returned.
Keep in mind however that you CAN still get pregnant!
Hi J.,
It's normal. Same thing happened to me with both my kids. Some people don't get their period back for over a year. Hope this helps!
Poor hubby, can't believe you don't believe him being a nurse and all!! LOL Yes it is normal.
Totally normal and the best part you might not get it until 3 or 4 months after you have stopped breastfeeding completely. I started mine again 4 months after. A warning the first one you get you think that you might be dying. It keeps coming and coming I have heard about really bad cramps but I didn't get that.
Totally normal. Even when you stop nursing, it may take a few months for your period to come back. You don't need to make an appt. about this, 95% of new moms experience this.
Yes. I haven't got mine and my daughter is 13 months. Yeah for breastfeeding!!
Hi J.-
Totally Normal. I didn't get my period until my daughter was 14 months and my son was a year. Enjoy it while you can!!
Nothing to worry about. Breastfeeding often stops your menstrual cycle. Enjoy the reprieve!
Totally normal! I took a few pregnancy tests to be sure but it didn't show up again until after a year or so. Enjoy it while it lasts!
very normal mine comes back with in two weeks of finishing nursing
Hello there.
I am SAHM to a wonderful 18mo old boy and I havent had my menstrual cycle since he was born. Your husband is right. I just went to the doc last week and she said its because I breastfed and that I had nothing to worry about. So your not alone. My sister is the same way and she has a 6mo old daughter. Hope that this helps put your mind at ease. Best of luck...
I didn't get mine until my daughter was about 18 months. Trust your nurse hubby and don't borrow worry :)
It is 100% normal because you are still breastfeeding - yes it has something to do with hormones. And even after you stop breastfeeding it could take a few months for it to come back - or it could come back before you wean. All woman are different, but its' all normal! Consider yourself lucky - I started my period a few weeks after my daughter was born and I was exclusively breastfeeding! We're all different!!! Oh, and be careful because even though your period never came back you CAN still get pregnant again....
:)
You are fine. This happened to me with both my kids. I rather enjoyed the "year off"
I breastfed my boys for nine months each. I didn't get a period until I stopped with the first one, but got it about four months into breastfeeding the second one. As far as I've read, this IS normal. No worries.
I'm still breastfeeding my 19 mth old daughter and haven't got my period back.
Totally NORMAL :-) a blessing really! I went 11 month with our first, 13 months with our second, 15 months with our third and our fourth. BUT you can STILL GET PREGNANT... So, watch out!!
J. : )
Congratulations on a beautiful daughter! I, too, never had a menstrual period while I was nursing my 5 kids! It is normal. I think it is more normal to NOT have a period than to have one while nursing.
Enjoy this special time with her. Blink and she'll be the mom!

You lucky duck! Mine came back after 6 months, but then it was just every 2-3 months or so until I stopped nursing. Enjoy the time off!!! It's completely normal!!!
When I had my son I breastfed for almost ten months and after stopping I still didn't have a period for a few more months. My OB said this was normal and my body's hormones will fall into place when they needed to. I would double check (just to safe) with your Dr, but I think it's pretty normal.
Totally normal!
With my first son, I breastfed him for a little over a year and didn't get it back until the week after I started weening him.
I'm currently breastfeeding my second son, he's seven months old and still no period. Hooray! Not looking forward to getting it back!

I breast fed for ten months and didn't have a period during that time. Some people have mild ones, some have none. It is quite normal.
Good luck with your precious daughter.

Totally normal. Enjoy it!
