I am almost 20 wks with my second pregnancy, and have been having lower pelvic pain for some time now. At my last visit I was diagnosed with a bladder inf., and after starting the antibiotics, it went away completely for about 4 days. It has now returned. I can only describe it as the discomfort that comes in the 3rd trimester when your belly gets very heavy and you feel like you need to hold underneath it all the time. It is fairly uncomfortable, but not really painful, and worse when I move up and down off the floor, walk up stairs, etc. I don't remeber having this with #1 so early, and am just looking for opinions from you all. I will talk to my OB next week about it-just curious! I'm wondering if maybe I'm just carrying lower this time? Any of you experienced this?

What can I do next?

Hi! I recall the same thing when I was pregnant both times. I believe what you may be experiencing is the stretching of the ligaments in that area. Your muscles may just be trying to make more room. I had this happen periodically throughout my pregnancy. Good luck!

i had this also with my 3rd baby. what i found the best for me was to get a belly brace. its kinda like a back brace but it supports your belly instead of relying completly on your own muscles to do it. my dr told me i could also try using the support pantyhose but that didn't work as well as the actual brace.

it could very well be the pelvic floor muscles being a little weaker this time around after getting stretched out. The cartilage in the middle of you pelvic bones will stretch causing pain. Sometimes it comes near the end of the pregnancy and sometimes it will come much earlier due to hormones loosening up things there. I am pregnant with my second child which is due any time now. I did notice that I got that pain much earlier this time around. I had a class mate that had it so bad and so early on that she had to go on disability for the rest of her pregnancy because she could not walk around without any support it hurt so bad. I have noticed that some women get a cane or even crutches to help bear some of the weight. I would talk to you doctor and ask if they think it could be that cartilage that is loosening causing you to carry the pregnancy weight uncomfortably. then you may be able to talk to someone about what you can do to help minimize that pain. I heard the advice of make sure you are always moving in the direction that you head is facing (meaning dont turn you upper body to do something while your feet are still facing forward) when going up stairs take it one step at a time like a child. it may help with a pregnancy support belt and careful how much you pick up your first child. I hope you figure out what can be the problem. Just though I would drop my two cents here. good luck.

I had the same problem no bladder infections at all. Felt like my pelvic bones were breaking or something. I also never felt this with my first pregnancy only with my second.
