Having Some Health Issues and Looking for Answers

Ok Mommies...I am having some "lady" issues. I am really at a loss as to what to do. I have been seeing my OBGYN since November 2013 on this issue. Here is some background: Since November of 2013, I have been having irregular periods, some of them lasting 28-30 days...with only 7-10 days of non-bleeding in between. I have an aching/throbbing pain in my lower left abdomen/pelvic area (and sometimes on my right as well). I have been dealing with constipation on top of this and have felt very lethargic (most likely from having my period for so long and often). In early February, I went to have an ultrasound down to see what was going on, and I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts on my left ovary (3 to be exact) and 1 smaller one on my right ovary. I was put on Seasoniquelow to try to get the bleeding under control and to hopefully get the cysts to shrink/go away. At first I thought that the hormones/pills were working because the bleeding stopped for 18 days (the longest break that I have had since the beginning of November). But...I have still had the lower abdominal/pelvic pain continuing and now I have been bleeding again for the last 11 days. I have another OBGYN appointment scheduled for May (after I have complete three months on the Seasoniquelow) to see how the cysts are looking. I called the doctor yesterday to let them know that the bleeding is still persisting and didn't know what else to do. They want me to stay on the pill for 4 more weeks and let them know what my body is doing at that time (to give the hormones a little more time to work). I have had 3 children (4 pregnancies) since 2008, with my youngest born in September of 2012.

So...my question is this...should I be worried about these cysts? Has anyone else had similar symptoms and what was your outcome? I am just feeling very discouraged and tired of dealing with these issues. And on top of everything, my poor husband is definitely not getting the attention he deserves because of this (not only is it a physical inconvenience to me, but it causes an inconvenience in the bedroom...not just because I am on my period, but it also causes discomfort to have intercourse). I just want some answers! :( Thank you for any responses!

What can I do next?

See your doctor or get another OB/GYN. You may wind up with a hysterectomy if they cannot get the bleeding stopped. There maybe other underlying issues that may require surgery. We are not doctors here and cannot give you helpful answers for your condition(s).

I am sorry you are dealing with all of this and the amount of blood loss. But do what you must to take care of your life and health and for your children.

PS I had something similar and knew at my age 43 that I did not want any more children and was ready when I had my surgery. It has been a godsend and I don't miss Aunt Flow in the least. My doctor said I looked better after surgery than I did prior. Gone were the dark circles under my eyes and I got my energy back.

Sounds like what they are doing isn't working, or is taking way too long. I have a number of people I've worked with who had extensive problems from PCOS to menstrual issues to swelling/inflammation. Sounds like you have a lot of that going on. I would think the cysts would be causing a lot of inflammation, and that's causing pain. It's also exhausting to deal with pain and bleeding, and you're not getting the rest you need.

Have you considered any immune system support? There is general support and there is female-specific support. There is also a natural plant-based anti-inflammatory that helps tremendously with helping cells perform at optimum levels. I just came from a long seminar on major research being done, and there are a lot of clinical results showing improved cell health. That means cells are restored to proper functioning. There are no side effects, you can't "overdose" because it's food based, and there are multiple scientific papers on a variety of diseases and conditions. You could add this in without disrupting your current regimen. There is no contraindication with medications. Certainly you would get additional energy without stimulation of the central nervous systems (as caffeine-based products do). Happy to help.

I'd get a new OBGYN.
You deserve one who will listen and expain and give you answers.
and the "Lets wait 4 weeks and see" is NOT an acceptable answer when you are in pain and been dealing with this for months!

Hormones aren't a quick fix. It takes a while for your body to adjust to them so your physician asking that you continue to see what happens is reasonable. If you feel you aren't getting the help you need then you can certainly seek a second opinion.

Sounds like you're on track for getting answers and options from your GYN--try to be patient, there's an end in sight. Just a few more weeks.
Good luck!
