Having Trouble Finding Affordable Child Care in the Area

My family just moved about 2 months ago to the downtown area. We are having a really hard time finding childcare. Everywhere we look the price for our 2 children is just insane and there is noway we would be able to pay it. We both will be working soon and can't seem to find anything. If you know of a daycare that is affordable and won't take 3/4 of our income PLEASE tell me. THANKS.

What can I do next?

I have a WONDERFUL daycare/school in downtown minneapolis: Bernie's Montessori. I sent my son there until he was school aged (1st grade) and my daughter is still there. They have a fantastic program with caring teachers. And, to top it off, they are incredibly affordable (considering what other facilities charge). Unfortunately, they only take children that are 33 months or older and they must be potty trained.

If you would like additional information regarding Bernie's, please do not hesitate to ask.

Please let us know what you mean by "insane" prices...our current daycare center is $50/day/child - which saves us $35/day over our last day care center. If you would like the name of this center, let me know. Centers are expensive, home daycares can be a little cheaper - but if you do not have friends/family around, it will be hard to find a home daycare you can trust, I think.

I have a 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 year old and my husband and I have lived here for some time but changed jobs and are having the same difficulty. I have decided that we may have to use an unlicensed friend who lives two houses down for sometime until we get into the "swing" of things again. I can suggest my daycare provider but she's spendy just like the rest. You can also research providers by going on the Ramsey County "childare resource and referral" area as well. Good luck!

Hi S.,
S. and Ryan, it was really nice meeting you and the boys
Tuesday Evening. The boys seemed as though they enjoyed themselves
as well. I am very excited to have them start Monday, I 've told the other kids here that they will be having two new friends on Monday and they are excited as well. They will be a perfect fit in my daycare.

I have been having trouble the last two days with my phone service with comcast. They have been working in our area and the phones have been going in and out throughout the day. So I wanted to touch base with you to see if you found out what time they will be coming Monday? Please email me with your emailaddress and maybe phone number that I can reach you this
weekend, mine is ____@____.com.

Thanks, talk to you soon,

S.
