Poly Vi Sol is a liquid vitamin that I gave to my daughter after she stopped breast feeding (I was taking prenatal vitamins until she was weaned). It doesn't taste very good, mix it with food or juice whatever works for you. I believe it was 2 dropperfuls a day, my daughter was sensitive to it at first, so I gave one a day to start out. You can buy it in the baby section at the drug store, I think its enfamil that makes it.

Traci,
Go with the Shaklee vitamins. They are more thoroughly tested than any others and safer. Vitamins like Polyvisol and Flintstones are full of contaminants. Also, some vitamins are not meant to be in liquid form--they oxidize as soon as you open the bottle.

Hi Traci,

You're right; it is so important to supplement our own diets and our family's since we don't always get enough nutrition from the foods we eat. I know in my family, we especially don't eat enough fruits and veggies. That's why I recommend, and give my family, Juice Plus+ whole food capsules and gummie treats. It gives us all the nutrition of 17 fresh, raw fruits, veggies and grains every day. It's so much better than isolated, man-made multivitamins because your body actually knows what to do with it so it doesn't get passed right on through.

Depending on how many teeth your little guy has, he can have one fruit gummy and one veggie gummy every day...you may need to cut them into quarters to eliminate any choking hazard. When he turns two, he can have two of each and then three and above, he'll have three of each.

Here's a great site for more info: www.raizin3boyzonjuiceplus.com

Blessings,

M.

We all have our own opinions... I gave my son Shaklee powedered infant vitamins starting at 6 months. At age 2, he now takes the chewables. I think they are the best, but do your research and decide what is right for you. My pedi never recommended he take a multi; I chose to start it. I just don't think it's possible for him to get everything he needs from what I feed him. I think it has positively impacted his health. He is very healthy (1st ear infection at 20 months) and is very, very tall for his age (37" tall at age 2). I will start my 2 month old daughter on the powdered multi when she reaches 6 mos.
Good luck!

Hi Traci,

You can begin giving babies vitamins supplements a the age of 6 months. There are many vitamins on the market but most ofthem are synthetic and that is not good for our bodies.

there is a new product that came out last year called Shaklee Baby multi-vitamin/mineral. Just 1 teaspoon a day mixed with water, juice or food will provide 23 essential vitamins and minerals for your precious baby; includingfolate, biotin, iron and zinc. Plus the babies get probiotics in this product for the immune system and vitamind D for stron bones, teeth and it meets the American Academy ofPediatrics latest recommendation.

So whatever product you choose be sure to check the label and you can find out more about Shaklee Baby at the website below:

http://www.choice-wellness.myshaklee.com

If you need more information I can send you a pdf file to view on this product.

I would talk to your pediatrician first and see what he recommends. We've been using a prescription multi-vitamin for our 15 mo DD, but there may be something different for your son.

Please ask your child's pedi before ever giving him any vitamin, suppliment, or medication of any kind. I didn't realize so many people give their children vitamins. Neither of mine have ever had one and they are both extremely healthy. As long as your son eats a somewhat balanced diet why bother with a vitamin? Just my thoughts.

As the 1st person suggested, our hospital has us giving poly vi-sol with iron to our newborn.

It can't be bad if the hospital suggests/approves it after we've been through NICU with him.

I was told 2 years of age you can start vitamins, until then you can suppliment vitamin with things like Pediasure and Ovaltine, but you have to watch the iron levels...it can be toxic if you have a meat rich diet.

Hi, Traci. I recommend Juice Plus+ Gummies. My kids love them. Although I'm not much of a salesperson, I have become a distributor since our whole family has been taking Juice Plus+ for 4 years and I'm confident in the benefits. It only makes sense. It is whole food nutrition, providing our family with the nutritional protection from 17 fruits, veggies and grains everyday. I also love that there is abundant research supporting Juice Plus+. Check out my site at www.raizin3boyzonjuiceplus.com and let me know if I can help you. Also, check out Dr. Sears, renowned pediatrician of "The Doctors" who also endorses Juice Plus+, at www.askdrsears.com. It's a great site! Take care!

ask your pediatrician as to the age to start...but for dental reasons, the gummy ones are NOT recommended. Chewables or liquid is better.

Hi Traci,
I & thousands of health professionals recommend Juice Plus+ Gummies for your 17 month old. Juice Plus+ is better than a vitamin because it is 17 different fruits & veggies (in capsule, chewable & gummie form). Juice Plus+ has been around for more than 15 years and has been clinically researched by leading universities & hospitals around the world & published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Juice Plus+ is THE most thoroughly researched namebrand nutritional product on the market today. Since JP+ is food, it is not taxed in Texas and you can not over dose on it like vitamins. My 4 children and my husband & I all take Juice Plus+ and love it! You can visit my website: www.MussoJuicePlus.com for more info.

My pediatrician recommends that children should get the proper nutrition from a variety of foods in their diet. It is actually better to get the nutrients from foods than to get them from a supplement. My daughter has always been a very good eater. I have been able to offer her anything and she likes almost everything. That being said, I still give her a Flintstones (for 2 yrs. and older) multi-vitamin because I figured it couldn't hurt and she wanted to be "grown-up" like her mommy and daddy. If you are really concerned, you might check out PediaSure. Best wishes:)

My recommendation is that you refer to your pediatrician before you give your child any kind of vitamin or supplements.
