Look up raw foods for dogs (as in meat . . ) it helped my friends dog - they are not designed to eat all the grains and &%^$ that are in dog foods.

good luck

We used to have Boxers, which also have health issues. Unfortunately a lot of breeders breed the dogs for their looks and turn a blind eye to health issues. (Our dogs had allergies, heart problems, and cancerous tumors... not good.) That being said, our male Boxer had allergic reactions to just about everything as well, and the vet had us give him Benadryl. You will need to ask about the right dosage for your dog. Additionally you should ask the vet about a special diet. Sometimes what's in their food can really affect their skin as well. With our dogs, we would cook them rice and chicken, and put home made chicken broth on it (seriously). We also had to put vitamins in it that our vet gave us. As time consuming as it was, it did help.

Also sometimes with dogs that have wrinkly faces, you do have to clean the folds of their skin. On our dogs, I would just use a damp cloth (washed in perfume-free detergent - yes, seriously) and gently clean their faces. You may also need to do the same for his feet, or have him wear little booties when he is outside.

I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. It's so hard to watch your pet suffer!

Hi my name is J.. My grandma has 2 dogs that she just adores. At first I thought she was a little overly loving, but she was right. Have you heard of Mona Vie. It is a health juice that seems to work wonders on all kinds of things. Well her little dog Molly, she is part Shitzu and Yorkie. She came down with horrorable allergies and stomach problems. My grandma has been drinking the juice for her arthritis and health for 6 months now and decided to give some to her Molly. She fed Molly about 2 oz. a day for a week and before she knew it Molly was acting like a pup again. If you would like more info please contact me, ____@____.com I would love to give you a bottle to try. Hope it helps.

Hi D., There are several things that can cause the allergies that you describe and yes alot of them are contact allergies, one of the things that you can do and it only requires about 15 ccs of blood from Benny and that is to run an allergy screen to see exactly what he is allergic to. This screen includes grasses, pollens, food, fabric, and then they give you a list of dog foods that would be compatible with your dog. I had a ShepX that had no outward signs of allergies other than a constanly infected vulva, after her allergy test we found out that there were only 4 types of dog food that she could eat and she was allergic to my cats and carrots (her favorite treat) Yes the test is costly but the results are worth the money and the information is excellent to know. The other thing that you could try is changing his food to a novel protein (anything other than chicken, beef, or lamb) You can get a fish and sweet potato based food at Granicy's feed on the east side of Lancaster off of Ave K.
Results are usually seen in a month after being on the new food. Remember with any diet change do it over 7 days the formula is simple, days 1-2 75% old food 25% new food, days 3-4 50% old to new, days 6-7 25% old food 75% new food and then day 7 100% new food. Hope this helps you. Good Luck, L.

Hi D...
English Bulldogs do tend to have some skin problems. We have one too, but she is only 7 months old, so we havent seen anything yet. We do feed her IAMS.. in the green bag, i know its spendy, but even with dogs...they are what they eat. Try giving your dog a bath with a few drops of tea trea oil in the rinse. And have you talked with your vet about flea bite dermatitis? Sometimes one flea bite can have disastrous effects on your dog.
Nose peeling, try using chunks of a fresh aloe vera plant, or just plain ol vaseline...
The aloe vera smells bad when its warm so keep it in the fridge in a bag once its broken..

Hope this helps!!
Take care,
K.

We had friends with a pitbull mix that had the same problem! They used to give her Benadryl and removed all grass in their backyard. Seemed to eliminate the problem. Our Brittany Spaniel has grass allergies too, but not that severe. What has your vet said?

There is a great product called Missing Link you can purchase at Petsmart for about $20. It comes in a gold bag and is located on the bottom shelf in the vitamin supplement isle. I would give it to any dog as it really helps with coat issues and shedding. Vets are wonderful but occassionally it is there best guess. I would be concerned about the nose peeling as I have a dog with lupus who's nose peels when exposed to the sun. Best of luck and good wishes to you and Benny!

I am a mom that that shares health and wellness to others and I know of a nutrient that animals and Humans take and is giving us extremely positive results . It's called Glyconutrients! I take this along with many of my family and friends and our pets. I met a vet on a trip that I took with the company and he started taking the glyconutrients for his health challenge and was getting great results so he found that all living things should be taking this on a daily basis and so he added this to his practice. He is seeing wonderfull results and he said he will not even work with a patient unless they consider giving this to their animal! I can give you his number if you would like? just write back or you can call me at ###-###-####. Mean while you can go to this site and read about it, www.livingsugars.com If you are interested in trying it go to www.gomanna.com . The scientific name is glyconutrients if you look this up under pubmed.org this is where Dr.s get to learn about new things comming out and their are thousands of study papers on this technology. The trade name for this nutrients by the company that has the pattent world wide is ambrotose, so this is what you would be looking for. Crazy but it works! My aunt is giving it to her dog that is havig some health challenges and she is getting great results.. Call me and we can discuss more...

I can make a difference one person at a time! R.....
