Healthy Cake?

Does anybody know of a place that makes cakes that are healthier than the usual cake? Made with more natural ingredients? I want a very small, separate, lighter cake for the birthday boy, and I dont want him to be loaded with any unnecessary sugars. I know that there's a chance that he won't care for it too much, but I would prefer to be on the safe side. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I ended up just buying a carrot cake (mini/personal) just for him, and did the cupcake cake for everybody else. Everybody seemed to enjoy the cupcakes, and he just played with the frosting on his cake. :)

I know some places have sugar free angle food cake. You could put a light cool whip & pinapple "icing" on top to make more cake like.

Try Whole Foods, Sprouts, or The Cupboard in Denton. You could also buy a mix at any of those places and make him his own cupcakes. We've used a Cherrybrook Farms mix that is sold at most of those places (even Super Target carries it, possibly Kroger in their Nature's Market section). The cake was really good, and it didn't have all that added stuff in it. There are all natural, etc. icing mixes also.

Hi,

I do customized cakes for parties, engagements, weddings and of course birthdays. I can do a healthier cake for you. May be fruit cake like blue berry or something like that. Banana loaves are also healthy. Have a look at my website http://www.brilliantcakes.com and let me know. I won't charge much since its a small cake and also healthy so less sugar etc involved.

One "trick" we did was to make a small separate cake for my first daughter (this probably only works with the first child because the next children are more savvy, as they get introduced to treats by attending their older siblings' class parties)was to cover her cake with whipped cream cheese. She still looked like she had frosting all over her face, enjoyed it, and did not know that she was deprived a major sugar high!

Happy 1st Birthday!
