My husband and I are needing to eat healthier, but we're both meat and potato people. I like cookbooks, but prefer ones that have ingredients I can actually find in the grocery store. I also want one that is for a working mom of two kids....I don't have time to cook all day (who does?). Can anyone recommend a good healthy eating cookbook for picky eaters?

What can I do next?

I can't recommend a cookbook, but there is a meal planning site called e-mealz.com or mealtimemakeover.com (both are the same site). It gives you 7 meal plans for the week. You can choose family friendly, or points system (based on Weight Watchers points program, but that equals low fat/healthy). I've been using it for several months now. I started with the family friendly and maybe 1-2 meals a month wouldn't be a big hit, the rest were great. Then, I joined Weight Watchers and switched to the points based one, and everyone still likes what is offered. They give you the meal plan and then a shopping list and it is based on keeping your food groceries for dinner under $100 per week. Let me know if you need any other info on it. It only costs $5.00 per month and is soooooo helpful!

I just wanted to offer two websites for healthy eating. Eat Better America takes a lot of standard recipes and makes them healthier. and Kraft has a website Kraftrecipes.com/healthyeating that has some great recipes, too!
Eating healthier is a great idea!

Look at www.shrinkingonabudget.com - I just started with her - it is cheap $12 a year, and the recipes are easy, good and made from things you would normally buy - plus they are geared for familys with children. So far, we really like it!

Cooking Light's website might be worth a try. They have some healthy & easy recipes. They also have a category that is called super fast recipes. If you like the recipes then you can always order a magazine subsription. I recently ordered the mag subscription but haven't received it as of yet. They also have cookbooks. Granted not all of the recipes are kid-friendly but some of them are.

Someone mentioned Weight Watchers, not sure if you're doing that program or not but alot of WW members use the Cooking Light recipes because they're often low in points.
