Healthy Ranch Dressing/Dip Recipe

Does anyone have a healthy homemade ranch dip/dressing recipe that they can share with me. My daughter loves ranch dip and it is crazy how much of it she could consume in one sitting if we would let her, and she wants to eat it with every meal. I was thinking that if we were to make her an all natural ranch dip then maybe it wouldn't be all that bad for her after all.

Thanks.

Dry Ranch Style Seasoning for Dressing and Dips

1 teaspoon dried parsley
3/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon dried thyme

Directions
1.In a small bowl, stir together the parsley, pepper, seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder and thyme. Use as a substitute for Ranch Dressing Mix.

I plan on mixing it in the blender with a little bit of cottage cheese and some milk to make a dip for her, or maybe mix it with some plain yogurt.

I buy packets of buttermilk ranch dressing. The recipe calls for 1 cup buttermilk (I use lowfat) and 1 cup of mayo and then mix with seasoning packet. To make it healthier I put less than a half cup of mayo in it and stick with the 1 cup of lowfat buttermilk. It isn't quite as thick as other dressings but it is better for you and makes a great dip. Enjoy!

What about sour cream with some dillweed and lime juice? Not sure if sour cream is any more healthier. Here's a recipe for the dry ingredients to mix with sour cream so that you don't have to buy a Ranch packet with all that preservative junk in it. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Dry-Ranch-Style-Seasoning-fo...

Or maybe a taziki sauce type dip would be good? Yogurt and cucumber and spices.

I find I get a pretty good ranch taste from sour cream (and/or plain yogurt), several cloves of minced garlic and salt and pepper to taste. If it seems a little thick, thin it with buttermilk. It's simple but very tasty.

play around with fat free greek yogurt, herbs, maybe something to add a little sweetness. I LOVE using greek yogurt for dressings. It is so thick and creamy, you would think it is a super fattening dressing.

Get those ranch packets and mix it with plain yogurt instead of sour cream or mayo. It tastes pretty darn good and is much healthier. You could also mix half yogurt and half low fat sour cream to cut calories and make it a little closer to the real thing. Make sure you use plain, not vanilla yogurt though! Greek yogurt is also an alternative, it tastes a bit like sour cream, but it's pretty thick and sour and some people and kids may not like it. Also, there is a brand of salad dressings called Bolthouse Farms and they are made with yogurt too, I find the Ranch to be very tasty! I buy it at our local grocery store so maybe you have it too!

I don't have a recipe but love ranch as well. Why not the Lite Ranch, tastes the same and has less fat. You can google healthy ranch recipes and see what they have to offer. I think most recipes really just substitute in yougart. Good luck.

I use the ranch packets - one is for ranch dressing and one for ranch dip. I like the ranch dip one - it calls for just the packet and sour cream. I use the fat free sour cream and have DELICIOUS fat free ranch! YUM! Maybe just low fat for your daughter since fat is ok for kids!
